Book Spotlight Giveaway! The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

This week I am offering my audio CD copy of The Girl on the Train. I have heard mixed reviews about this book but I really enjoyed listening to it. Maybe it was the British accents that did it, I do enjoy listening to them. I have heard from other people that they didn't enjoy reading it. My book club selected this to read later this year, so I will actually read it then. It will be interesting to see what I think of it, reading vs. listening.

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

The Girl on the Train

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Audio CD, 11 pages
Published January 13th 2015 by Penguin Audio

Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?

Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

  1. I read this in book form, but I can certainly see how it would be a compelling story to listen to!

  2. I sure haven't read it yet(!) even though it is a must-read for me given all the critical acclaim and the compelling storyline.

Winning a free audio copy would be even more perfect because I've just recently realized how I experience suspense more deeply when listening to audiobooks than I do when either reading or watching a film with similar content! Thanks so much.

Cheers and best wishes, Kara S
