Book Blitz! The Art of Almost Losing It by Alina Jacobs ~ Excerpt & Giveaway! #TheArtOfAlmostLosingIt

The Art of Almost Losing It by Alina Jacobs
(The Richmond Brothers, #3)
Publication date: August 4th 2026
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

There comes a time in every almost-thirty-year-old woman’s life when getting kidnapped off the street is preferable to admitting that the hot, rich boyfriend you’ve been bragging about for months does not, in fact, exist.

Yes, it’s terrifying being stuffed in the trunk of a Mercedes, but I would rather be locked in a stranger’s penthouse than sleeping on the floor of my parents’ apartment like the loser daughter I am.

Honestly?
It’s nice to get some alone time. And my own bathroom.

He bribes me with money not to call the police.

I scream at him for forcing me to go to brunch as his prisoner at the hottest restaurant in New York.

Now everyone in my parents’ aggressively posh Manhattan neighborhood thinks we’re dating.

Buckle up, buddy.
I have a full wedding itinerary to attend, and congratulations—you’re my fake boyfriend.

Unfortunately, my kidnapper is the worst fake boyfriend in the history of fake boyfriends.

He’s mean.
Aloof.
Emotionally unavailable.
And deeply offended by how much time I spend on my phone.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to ignore how yummy he smells, all muscular and tall as he fumes next to me in bed, furious because I asked him when the sexy portion of the kidnapping is going to happen.

It’s a fair question, though, right?!? I thought kidnapping came with benefits!

Guess my kidnapper didn’t want me that much after all.

Men lying about their desire for a relationship. Story of my life.

Now I’m trapped.
He’s miserable.

And somehow, this is starting to feel dangerously like a relationship.

EXCERPT

The one time a hot guy shows interest in me… and he’s a violent kidnapper.

My screams cut off as he tosses in my laptop case. It lands on my ribs, knocking the breath out of me. He shoves my legs fully into the trunk, then tosses in the barking Lulu, then slams the door.

I assume it’s a mistake.

The expensive German car. The bespoke suit. The cologne that smells like money and expensive scotch—Men like him don’t grab women like me.

So why did he just shove me, in all my pizza-sauce-stained, Costco-clothes glory, into the trunk?

I needed a boyfriend, sure, but I did not expect him to arrive via a felony crime.

The engine purrs.

Wait.

Am I really being kidnapped?

Like… for real?

Sleet rattles against the roof as the realization hits.

Oh.

Oh no.

I’m trapped in the trunk of a stranger’s car. A dangerous man. Being driven God knows where.

Sure, he’s attractive—but that is deeply unhelpful information right now.

I’ll never see my family again. Never eat a dollar slice of pizza again—

Wait.

I squint.

Window.

This isn’t a sedan. This is an SUV.

I’m not trapped.

I haul myself up and pop my head over the back seat.

“You’re a crappy kidnapper!” I scream.

Shit!” he yells—and nearly plows into a parked truck. “You—!”

The car jerks to a stop at a stop sign. He throws it into park and starts climbing over the seats toward me.

“You can’t kidnap me,” I say, panic creeping in. “You don’t want me. I’m not a girl anyone kidnaps.”

My dog barks.

Emerald-green eyes catch the light.

“Sit down,” he commands.

“My mom is going to be really upset if I don’t come home tonight,” I blurt. “Let me go.”

The doors lock.

I fumble in my purse. Find my pepper spray.

“Yes!” I whisper. “I’m a strong, independent —”

I spray… myself.

Water,” I gasp, coughing, wheezing, blind.

I suck in a lungful of peppery air and yank at the door handle, begging it to open.

Too late.

“Stupid fucking girl,” he snarls, grabbing my jacket and dragging me forward.

“You didn’t even handcuff me!” I wheeze.

He pauses. “You really don’t know when to shut up, do you?”

He loosens his tie.

I gulp.

“I cannot believe,” he sneers, “that I kidnapped the most unattractive woman in Manhattan.”

Oh.

So… not the future love of my life after all.

New Release! The Women in White by Sarah Pekkanen ~ My Thoughts #TheWomenInWhite

Congratulation Sarah
on the recent release of
The Women in White!

The Women in White by Sarah Pekkanen
Mystery Thriller, Historical Fiction, 320 pages
Published August 4, 2026 by St. Martin's Press

The newest next thriller from #1 Bestselling Author Sarah Pekkanen combines a decades-old mystery with spine-tingling paranormal elements in this twisty novel of the seen and unseen.

Extrasensory perception.
The Gift.
A Sixth Sense.
Or something else….

In 1964, four remarkable young women at a prestigious university became the subjects of parapsychology experiments by a visionary scientist. On the cusp of a historic breakthrough, the women mysteriously vanished and the program was erased from history.

Decades later, Riley Bell, newly divorced and desperate for a fresh start, accepts a caretaker job for an elderly widow named Betty. Riley steps into a home that is frozen in another era - no microwave, television, or cell phones, and Betty has never heard of the internet. Why has Betty lived in such profound isolation for so many years, and why does she need Riley now?

As the story unfolds across two timelines - Betty’s 1960s era of 5 o’clock martinis and high-stakes experiments, and Riley’s quest to uncover the truth about the missing women - old secrets rise to the surface. And the only way to survive is to confront the mystery that has lingered for sixty years.

My thoughts about The Women in White ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"Riley, Present Day. Just before I knock on the door of the small brick house, I'm gripped by the skin-tingling sense I'm being watched."

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book. Sarah Pekkanen is a must-read author for me so I knew I'd be in for an exciting ride when I read this one. And it did not disappoint.

The Women in White takes place in dual timelines, the present and the mid-sixties. Riley answers an ad for a live-in position, assisting an elderly woman. What she didn't expect was a journey to help Betty find her friends from the past, when they were all the 'women in white'.

Betty and three other women were part of parapsychology experiments performed in the 1960's. These women formed a deep bond with each other, until they disappeared from each other's lives. Riley embarks on a quest to reunite these women. Through the flashbacks, the reader relives the lives of these women and what they endured.

One thing that struck me the most was that experiments of these type actually did take place during that time. It was a bit shocking to me to know what these women and others went through, all in the name of science.

I loved The Women in White and I highly recommend it!

I received an eARC of The Women in White and this is my honest opinion.

Release Day! Everything We Found by Kerry Lonsdale ~ My Thoughts #EverythingWeFound

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Kerry
on the release today of
Everything We Found!

Everything We Found by Kerry Lonsdale
Women's Fiction, 364 pages
Published August 3, 2026 by Bookouture

From multi-million copy bestselling author Kerry Lonsdale comes a heart-pounding and suspenseful romance full of longing, heat and a second chance at love against the odds…

On the outside, Nadia Jacobs is a cool, confident architect at the top of her game. But for the past decade, she’s been quietly building walls to keep the people she loves most at arm’s length. All because of him.

Thomas Donato sacrificed everything when he forced Nadia to keep a dangerous secret from everyone they knew. He did it to protect his family. But it cost him the woman he’s secretly loved since they were kids.

Now he wants back into Nadia’s life. Nadia’s heart does a familiar skip-and-stumble when met with his hesitant smile, but she sees through his Thomas is achingly alone. And letting him in risks losing everyone and everything she holds dear.

When his past abruptly crashes into their present, they are both suddenly on the run. Not only are they forced to confront the price of a secret they’ve kept for a decade, but a truth even more their feelings for each other.

With time running out and nowhere to hide, will their love heal what darkness broke in them all those years ago, or will it shatter them forever?

My thoughts about Everything We Found ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First line—"The night before the funeral, as he gazed into the belly of  a casket weighed down with sandbags in place of his younger brother's body, Thomas Donato accepted his fate. He was the villain of this story."

I am absolutely in love with this series—the Everything series by Kerry Lonsdale. But I have to say that Everything We Found might be my favorite of all of these stories. This one just hits different. It was a rollercoaster of a ride with an edge-of-my-seat vibe that the other ones did not have. I loved it!!

The truth about Nadia and Thomas' lives—and lies—is finally revealed and boy, did I have it all wrong. Nothing about their past was at all what it seemed to be, hence the rollercoaster ride. And I couldn't read fast enough to get to the exciting conclusion! So intense!!

This was the perfect ending to this amazing series. I highly recommend each and every story!

I received a copy of Everything We Found from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Release Day! A Crimson Rose by Grace Greene ~ My Thoughts #ACrimsonRose

Happy Release Day!

Congratulations Grace
on the release today of
A Crimson Rose!

A Crimson Rose by Grace Greene
Multigenerational Fiction, 132 pages
Published July 16, 2026 by Kersey Creek Books

A Crimson Rose is the third story in the heartwarming women's fiction series, Crimson Grove, about family, second chances, and the unexpected ways in which love can reshape lives.

Amelia Hennipen lives in the small town of Crimson Grove, Virginia, where she has devoted herself to caring for Aunt Henny, the elderly grandmother of her late husband, Simon. Years earlier, Simon abruptly left their marriage, and shortly afterward he died, leaving Amelia with unanswered questions and a life centered on responsibility rather than personal happiness.

Everything changes when eleven-year-old Sybil Rose arrives unexpectedly at Hennipen House. But is the change for the worse or the better?

Amelia’s life is already full of responsibilities. Aunt Henny’s Alzheimer’s won’t get better. The house and property need serious attention. And now there’s a girl who’s grieving and who doesn’t want to be at Hennipen House. And what about Nathan Shaw? Is there room in Amelia’s life for him and their growing feelings for each other?

A Crimson Rose is a story about discovering that love often arrives in unexpected forms and at unexpected times, and endures in the most unlikely circumstances.

My thoughts about A Crimson Rose ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First line—"There have been many nevers in my life."

A Crimson Rose took me on another trip back to the interesting world of  Amelia, Henny, Sybil, and the rest of the gang. I love all of these wonderful characters and enjoy all of the interactions and support they have for one another.

I have enjoyed all of Grace Greene's stories and this series is right up there at the top. I love everything about it and am always excited when I get to take a trip back to see the crew. You can just feel the love and compassion that comes from each one of them.

Check out the Crimson Grove series if you want a pleasurable experience that will fill your heart with love and hope. I love all of the stories and highly recommend this series!

I received an ARC of A Crimson Rose and this is my honest opinion of the book.

************************

A Crimson Heart was released this past November for a holiday visit at Hennipen House with Amelia and Henny. It was a time of stress for them, yes, but also a time of unexpected blessings. But when the holidays ended, Amelia and Henny said there was more to their story, and I agreed, so Crimson Grove became a series.

A Crimson Promise, the 2nd novella in the series, is another story of the perils of heartbreak, unexpected blessings, and of love reshaping our lives and the joy of recreating family.

The hardest promise to keep is the one you never in-a-million-years dreamed you’d have to make.

A Crimson Rose will release on July 16th. Preorder here.
