Book Spotlight and a Giveaway! Two Years, No Rain by Shawn Klomparens

Two Years, No Rain

Two Years, No Rain by Shawn Klomparens
Paperback, 370 pages
Published June 23rd, 2009 by Delta

An earnest journey from heartache to heartthrob and all the emotions along the way; at once an old-fashioned love story and a cautionary tale of self-reinvention.

In San Diego County, it hasn't rained in 580 days. But for weatherman Andy Dunne, everything else is changing fast…Only a few weeks ago, he was a newly divorced, slightly overweight meteorologist for an obscure satellite radio station, hiding his secret love for a colleague, the beautiful—and very much married—Hillary Hsing. But nearly overnight, Andy has landed a new gig, flying a magic carpet in a bizarre live-action children’s TV show.

So what is affable, basically decent Andy Dunne going to do now that he can do practically anything he wants? With a parade of hot moms begging for his autograph and a family that needs his help more than ever, Andy has a lot of choices. First, though, there’s this thing with Hillary, their heated text messages, a long-awaited forecast for rain – and a few other surprises he never saw coming…

About Stacey Rourke

There is nothing worse than being put on the spot and asked to talk about yourself. For me it brings back that inevitable moment in a new school when the teacher would ask me to stand up, introduce myself and tell the class something about myself. I was always worried I would blurt out something stupid that I would get teased for. Something like, “My name’s Stacey and I like pickles!” Then for the rest of the school year I’d be known as the Pickle Girl and let’s be honest, no one wants that. So to avoid such a faux pas I will simply say that I love to write. It allows me to get my crazy out just enough that I can function as a normal member of society.

Stay

Stay by Allie Larkin
Paperback, 320 pages

Girl meets dog in this effervescent "feel-good debut" (People) by the author of Why Can't I Be You

Savannah "Van" Leone has been in love with Peter Clarke since their first day of college. Six years later, Peter is marrying Van's best friend, Janie. Loyal to a fault, Van dons her pumpkin-orange, maid-of- honor gown and stands up for the couple, struggling to hide her true feelings even when she couldn't be more conspicuous.

After the wedding, nursing her broken heart with a Rin Tin Tin marathon plus a vodka chaser, Van accidentally orders a German Shepherd puppy over the Internet. When "Joe" turns out to be a hundred-pound beast who only responds to commands in Slovak, Van is at the end of her rope-until she realizes that sometimes life needs to get more complicated before it can get better.

Allie Larkin is the internationally bestselling author of the novel Stay, and Why Can’t I Be You (2013). When Allie writes, she wears an oversized circa 1980’s acrylic sweater that is a crime against fashion and good taste in general. She loves Boston. The band, not the city. But the city is great too.

Allie lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Jeremy, their German Shepherd, Stella, and Stella's stuffed monster, Murray.

So I just shut the whole thing down!!
No one can comment on anything!

I'll  just give it a break and see if this thing blows over.

If anyone has some tips or ideas on how to handle this, please let me know. Contact info is over there on the right.

A SWEET LIFE
Forward by Debbie Macomber

I have no memories of my paternal grandmother. My best guess is that I was barely four years old when she died. But, I like to think I inherited my love of knitting from her. My older cousins tell the story of sitting in a semi-circle in front of her rocking chair and watching her crochet. Her fingers moved at a frantic speed as she rocked back and forth. The amazing part is that she was sound asleep and snoring!

My father, who was the youngest boy, was basically raised by his oldest sister, my aunt Betty, because my grandmother was diabetic. She was often tired and sickly, spending the majority of her time in bed.

Another memory my cousins have shared with me is of our grandmother boiling her hypodermic needles because she was insulin dependent. My father and three of my uncles were also diabetic and, by the end of their lives, insulin-dependent as well. And now several of my cousins are affected by the disease.

Like my cousins, for the last twenty-five years I've been a Type 2 diet-controlled diabetic.

Diabetes is a life-changing disease. It's estimated that 25.8 million children and adults in the United States are diabetic. That's 8.3% of the population. My guess is that we all know someone who is diabetic.

When Brenda Novak's youngest son, Thad, was diagnosed, she went on a one-woman mission to do whatever was necessary to fund research for a cure to this horrible disease. If you've ever met Brenda you know she is passionate about making a difference. This is her tenth year holding an auction to raise money for this cause and to date her efforts have resulted in more than $2 million dollars toward research for a cure.

The book you've purchased will go toward making the dream of a world free of diabetes a reality. Each one of the authors on this long list of contributors has given of their talent and themselves to aid in this mission. You're about to read some of the biggest names in the field of romance.

Three of these talented authors, Susan Wiggs, Barbara Freethy and Rachel Van Dyken, have scored #1 placements on the New York Times best seller lists. Now that's impressive. The remaining eleven are all well established authors with booming careers. In other words, you are in for a real treat.

And really, isn't this the best of all worlds? Not only is this an enjoyable read but at the same time your purchase is contributing to a worthy cause. You can't ask for a better win/win situation.

It's been my honor to write the forward. Keep at it, Brenda. Not only are you one amazing author, you're a woman with passion and heart.

Now enjoy.

With warmest wishes,
Debbie Macomber
