Sundaes with Nora
Sundaes with Nora by Anna Garner
Series: Sweet Dreams #2
Kindle Edition, 245 pages
Published February 24th 2015
Nora Finch has a sweet life. She’s married to one of San Francisco’s wealthiest venture capitalists, she lives in a gorgeous old Victorian mansion in one of the city’s most sought-after neighborhoods, and she just launched an ice cream business with her two best friends, Cricket and Lindsay.
However…exactly one week after Sweet Dreams opens its doors to the public, Nora’s husband, Kenneth, informs her he wants a divorce.
Talk about bad timing. Now, on top of the tremendous pressure she feels to drive sales, Nora has to deal with the breakdown of her marriage, adjust to a more frugal lifestyle, find a new place to live and prepare to dip her toes in the dating pool for the first time in four years. If that weren’t enough, everyone keeps trying to get her to “process” her feelings. For an overachiever like Nora, juggling the demands of a new business along with a total overhaul of her personal life should be doable…right?
My thoughts about Sundaes with Nora ~~
Sundaes with Nora is book #2 is the adorable series, Sweet Dreams. This book takes up where Sugar Spun Sister left off, only this time the story focuses more on Nora. Nora's good friends Cricket and Lindsay are a big part of the story as well so it's like meeting up with old friends.
Nora and the other two gals have started up a new business, an ice cream shop (yummy!) and then her husband tells her he wants a divorce. I really don't like that man and I say 'Good riddance'. Nora does handle it pretty well though, all things considered, and carries on with her life.
'Just because my marriage is falling apart doesn't mean my business has to self-destruct along with it.'
I totally loved the following passage when it hits Nora that she will be getting a divorce. This made me LOL!
'I'm going to be a divorcee. BAM! I'll have to get my boobs done and start wearing animal prints. KICK! No doubt I'll end up having a fling with some strapping twenty-one-year-old himbo and everyone will think I'm a sad sack. BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, KICK!'Sundaes with Nora really is a fun, enjoyable read and I love these three women. They are such good friends who really are always there for each other. They have fun together but they also know when they need to be there to give each other support. Everyone should have friends like these in their lives.
Like I said, I loved getting back together with Cricket, Lindsay, and Nora. Book #1 focused on Cricket. Then we get to learn more about Nora in book #2. I can't wait to read book #3 and see where Lindsay's story takes us. She has a great personality and I look forward to learning more about her.
'More than once, Lindsay has declared she'd rather be boiled alive in a vat of Velvetta with Justin Bieber blasting on the sound system overhead than date a guy who wears a baseball cap.'
Thanks Anna, for the wonderful story!
My thoughts about Sugar Spun Sister are here.
And aren't these covers just so adorable?
Born and raised in the Midwest, Anna Garner's adventurous spirit kicked in after graduating from high school, and she's since lived in Boston, NYC and London. For several years, Anna worked in fashion--first as a journalist and then as a shopkeeper, and for a while she dabbled in design.
Although chick lit was her first love, Anna started writing quirky romances, and her first one, Fashioning a Romance, was published in May 2012 under the name of Libby Mercer. This was followed by two more quirky romances: Unmasking Maya and The Karmic Connection. Since Lying to Meet You is written in old school chick lit style and isn't a clear cut love story, Anna decided to publish it (and the subsequent books, Sugar Spun Sister and Sundaes with Nora) under her real name.
She currently lives in San Francisco and spends most of her time cranking out more stories.
