Happy Release Day!

Congratulations Ashley

Dark Current Reckoning!

Dark Current Reckoning by Ashley Farley
Women's Crime Stories, 263 pages
Published June 16, 2026 by AHF Publishing

Lane Sutherlin has dragged Tidewell’s darkest secrets into the light—except the one still poisoning its future. A powerful faction of the Old Guard, including Lane’s own stepfather, is quietly orchestrating a land grab that will wipe out Tidewell’s most historic neighborhood and replace it with a waterfront casino. But before Lane can stop them, a far more personal truth resurfaces.

New evidence emerges about the boat accident that killed her brother nineteen years ago, forcing Lane to confront the lies that shaped her life and the man who buried them. Sheriff Boone didn’t just fail her—he hid the truth to protect one of Tidewell’s most privileged sons. And the boy who “rescued” her that night wasn’t a savior at all.

As Lane digs deeper, the Old Guard closes ranks, desperate to silence her before she exposes their final, most dangerous secret. And complicating everything is Briggs—the town’s embattled commonwealth’s attorney—whose feelings for Lane are getting harder to deny, even as the pressure threatens to break them apart.

With enemies closing in, a community on the brink, and the past demanding justice, Lane must decide what she’s willing to risk to finish what she started. Tidewell is running out of time.

And this time, the reckoning is hers.

My thoughts about Dark Current Reckoning ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"Cold bites through my gloves as I lift the binoculars to my face."

I just read another great installment in this exciting series by Ashley Farley. Once again I got to travel into the world of the formidable Lane Sutherlin and the evil that is lurking in Tidwell. As Lane battles the Old Guard of her community, she is also try to discover the truth surrounding the death of her brother years ago. Who and what was involved in the coverup? At this point, Lane isn't sure who she can trust and who is working against her. But this task is a lot for just one person to take on. Who can she let into her inner world?

I love this series as the drama and excitement kept me turning the pages. Any book by Ashley is a page turner but when she added the dark side of Tidwell and the tenacity of Lane to her formula, she definitely upped her game.

And just when I got to the end of this story and desperately wanted more, I found out that there is going to be a book four in this amazing series! Yay for us!

I highly recommend this series, where you'll get it all—Ashley's wonderful storytelling, amazing characters, plenty of drama, and the feeling that the bad guys can not win. Dark Current Reckoning was an exciting read and did not disappoint! I suggest that you get started on this series right away.

I received an eARC of Dark Current Reckoning and this is my honest opinion.

Release Day! Dark Current by Ashley Farley ~ My Thoughts #DarkCurrent

Happy Release Day!

Congratulations Ashley
on the release today of
Dark Current!

Dark Current by Ashley Farley
Women's Crime Stories, 238pages
Published April 7, 2026 by AHF Publishing

Lane Sutherlin thought bringing her best friend’s killer to justice would finally give her peace. Instead, she’s left with a chilling acquittal, whispers of jury tampering, and a part-time role with the sheriff’s office that ends the moment she starts asking the wrong questions.

When a renowned fertility specialist is murdered and harvested eggs vanish from her clinic, a terrified young woman turns to Lane—the only person she dares trust. Her story cracks open a crime far more calculated than a random break-in, pointing straight to a deeper conspiracy.

The Old Guard—Tidewell’s old-monied power players—aren’t just behind the trafficking. They’re determined to reshape the town itself. They’ve corrupted its leaders, bent its law enforcement, and turned its people into pawns. And now they’ve marked Lane as the one woman who can stop them.

With Briggs, the town’s sharp-eyed commonwealth’s attorney, at her side and Tidewell’s future hanging in the balance, Lane must decide how far she’ll go to protect the place she still calls home—before the darkness closing in finally swallows her whole.

Because the storm gathering over Tidewell isn’t just political—it’s personal.

And Lane Sutherlin is done running.

My thoughts about Dark Current ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"I'm seated in the front row of the courtroom, where I've been all week. Scout is curled at my feet."

This second book in the Sutherlin Files series is just as, if not more, exciting than book one. I love Lane and her tough ways. She gets it done!

And I love Ashley's dark side that has come out with this series. She writes the drama and evilness very well. This book was definitely a page-turner and I devoured the whole thing.

I highly recommend this series where you'll get it all—Ashley's wonderful storytelling, amazing characters, plenty of drama, and the feeling that the bad guys can not win. Dark Current was an exciting read and did not disappoint! I highly recommend that you get started on this series now.

Release Day! Dark Current Rising by Ashley Farley ~ My Thoughts #DarkCurrentRising

Happy Release Day!

Congratulations Ashley
on the release today of
Dark Current Rising!

Dark Current Rising by Ashley Farley
Women's Crime Stories, 242 pages
Published January 6, 2026 by AHF Publishing

A missing woman. A haunted detective. A town built on secrets.

When Detective Lane Sutherlin returns to Tidewell, Virginia, it isn’t by choice. She’s back in the small waterfront town she once called home to search for her childhood best friend, Addie, who’s vanished without a trace.

But coming home means more than chasing leads. Lane finds her father—the town’s respected former judge—slipping further into dementia. Old wounds with her brother flare, resentments deepen, and the house she grew up in feels less like a refuge and more like a reminder of everything she’s lost.

As Lane digs into Addie’s life, she uncovers more than she bargained for: a toxic marriage, whispered betrayals, and powerful men determined to protect their own. Every clue draws Lane closer to Tidewell’s polished elite—and to the rot lurking beneath their perfect façades. Soon she realizes Addie may not have been the only target.

In Tidewell, the past is never really past—and some secrets refuse to stay buried. Lane must untangle lies, face old enemies, and risk everything to bring the truth to light…even if it means becoming a target herself.

My thoughts about Dark Current Rising ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"I brace for impact. After weeks of tap dancing on a trapdoor, the hinges are ready to snap."

Whoa! The storyline of Dark Current Rising is Ashley going to a whole new place. It's really a different type of book from her other stories—more dark and dramatic—but still full of wonderful characters, which is what she does best. I loved every minute of it and am so excited that there will be more books in this series.

Lane goes back home to help find her missing friend, but then finds a whole lot more than she bargained for. There is so much more going on than just the issues with the disappearance of Addie. Suddenly she finds herself in the midst of the 'old guard' vs. the 'good guys'.

I love this darker side of Ashley's story telling. And of course, there has to be family drama mixed in. Lane finds out that her father is slipping into the world of dementia so she has all of that to deal with as well. This struck a personal cord for me and I appreciate that Ashley incorporated a bit of her personal experiences into the story.

Coming to the end of the book left me with a huge desire for more and yay!, there will be more to the life of Lane, with a possible romance in the making, maybe? Who knows? I know I'm excited to read more! I highly recommend Dark Current Rising!

Release Day! The First Last Kiss by Ashley Farley ~ My Thoughts #TheFirstLastKiss

Happy Release Day!

Congratulations Ashley
on the release today of
The First Last Kiss!

The First Last Kiss: A Holiday Rom-Com Short Read by Ashley Farley
Holiday Fiction, Women's Short Stories, 114 pages
Published December 2, 2025 by AHF Publishing

She built her life to prove him wrong. The life he thought he wanted means nothing without her.

When overworked investment banker Lucas Porter takes a detour through his Brooklyn Heights neighborhood one winter evening, the last thing he expects is to glimpse Bella Quinn—the girl he once loved and lost—through the window of a cozy flower shop. In a city glowing with holiday lights, the sight of her stops him cold.

Years ago, Lucas broke Bella’s heart with a single careless she wasn’t ambitious enough for his world. Now she’s everything he said she should be—successful, admired, and in demand—but her dazzling new life leaves her lonelier than ever.

Determined to earn a second chance, Lucas begins sending anonymous Juliet roses, peppermint hot chocolate, the new Christmas release by her favorite author, each one a message from the man who never stopped remembering. As Christmas fades into New Year’s Eve, his quiet gestures rekindle something in Bella she thought had long since wilted.

But when the truth comes out and old wounds resurface, forgiveness might be the only gift that can bring them together again—just in time for a midnight kiss beneath the New York sky.

My thoughts about The First Last Kiss ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"Nothing in my life has turned out as planned."

Can two star crossed lovers have a second chance for a great love that was thrown away years ago? Have their goals and personalities changed enough to mesh now in the present day?

The First Last Kiss answers these questions and more as the reader gets to enjoy a romantic New York Christmas season. Lucas catches sight of Bella years after breaking her heart. He starts wooing her again but she's not sure she wants to open her heart to him after what he did.

This beautiful, romantic story is the perfect book to read now for a nice little treat during this busy month. The First Last Kiss is another great story by the wonderful Ashley Farley. I have loved all of her books and this is one you that will want to read as soon as you can!

Release Day! Messy Under the Mistletoe by Ashley Farley ~ My Thoughts #MessyUnderTheMistletoe

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Ashley
on release today of
Messy Under the Mistletoe!

Messy Under the Mistletoe by Ashley Farley
Holiday Romance, Short Story, 98 pages
Published September 30, 2025, by AHF Publishing

She needed a model. What she got was a mess—and maybe the love of her life.

Sloane Delaney is one big pitch away from the promotion she’s worked for all year. All she needs is the perfect face for her new men’s grooming campaign—someone who embodies every version of the modern man. When she spots a flannel-clad Christmas tree vendor with an annoyingly perfect jawline, she sees more than lumberjack vibes—she sees potential.

Reid McAllister would rather stay behind the scenes at his family’s tree lot than be anyone’s holiday fantasy. But when Sloane dangles a paycheck big enough to solve his money problems (and maybe win back the girl who dumped him), he agrees to play along. One kiss for the camera turns into something that feels dangerously real—especially under the mistletoe.

Now Sloane has a campaign to launch, a fiancé who’s getting suspicious, and a growing she might have cast the wrong man in her real-life love story.

My thoughts about Messy Under the Mistletoe ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"I plaster on a smile as my senior team delivers the news."

Messy Under the Mistletoe is the perfect Christmas story, one you can get lost in to escape reality for a bit. It's a quick read, filled with loveable characters.

Sloane and Reid meet at the Christmas tree lot—the perfect way to meet in a Christmas story, right—and sparks fly. Sloane wants to keep it professional, since Reid is the perfect model for the role she is trying to fill, but the chemistry between the two of them is electric. There are definite ups and downs, as there are in any holiday romance story, but there's also a lot of growth and discovery right along with the angst. It's what makes for a fun, enjoyable story, right?

I loved Messy Under the Mistletoe, and Ashley did not disappoint with this one, another one of her great stories! I highly recommend it and if you love Christmas stories as much as I do, you will love this one for sure.

I received a copy of Messy Under the Mistletoe from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Release Day! Where Light Lingers by Ashley Farley ~ My Thoughts #WhereLightLingers @AshleyWFarley

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Ashley
on release today of
Where Light Lingers!

Where Light Lingers by Ashley Farley
Southern Fiction, 231 pages
Published September 2, 2025, by AHF Publishing

Sometimes the quietest miracles grow in the darkest seasons.

After six years of caring for her ailing parents, literature professor Selwyn Aldridge is alone in the weathered Victorian house where she grew up. Grief hangs heavy in every room, and her mother’s once-glorious garden is buried beneath weeds. When a bottle of morphine disappears during a moment of despair, Selwyn begins to question her grip on reality—until a radiant stranger named Blossom appears, arriving with uncanny timing and an instinct for exactly what Selwyn needs.

With Blossom’s quiet guidance, Selwyn begins to restore her mother’s garden—and, slowly, her own sense of purpose. But when an old flame resurfaces, a pregnant student turns up in need, and strange disturbances echo from the garage apartment, it becomes clear Selwyn’s story is far from over.

Set against the lush, literary backdrop of Oxford, Mississippi, Where the Light Lingers is a soulful novel about second chances, chosen family, and the quiet miracles that take root when we begin again.

For readers who loved The Secret to Southern Charm by Kristy Woodson Harvey or The Summer House by Lauren K. Denton—this soulful Southern novel will speak to your heart.

My thoughts about Where Light Lingers ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"I've never felt so alone in a room full of people."

Blossom to the rescue again! I don't think I will ever get tired of Blossom stories.

Selwyn Aldridge has been a caregiver for more years than she should have been. With her mother now gone, she is lost, in a lot of ways. What is her purpose? What is she going to do with her life? And then Blossom shows up. What a beautiful soul she is. Blossom gently pushes Selwyn to discover her purpose again and to find happiness. I love the magicalness of her guidance. We all need a little bit of Blossom in our lives.

I absolutely love this series and adore the character of Blossom. Where Light Lingers is a beautiful, emotional, magical story of finding oneself and finding your place in the world. I highly recommend this story. I know you'll love it as much as I do.

I received a copy of Where Light Lingers from the author and this is my honest opinion.

My thoughts about Return to Marsh Hollow ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"Tears well in my eyes as I raise my glass to toast the only true friends I've ever known."

Ashley has brought to life a well-loved character from another one of her series and has given her her own stories. Blossom is a caring, beautiful, warm women who is always there when you need her and knows exactly what you want and need.

Lydia doesn't even know she needs help when she arrives back home to tie up loose ends so she can get on with her life. As secrets unfold and memories start to resurface, it all becomes more than she can handle. Blossom to the rescue, right on cue. I really wish there was a Blossom in my life!

I love Return to Marsh Hollow because, just like all of Ashley's stories, it is filled with wonderful, interesting characters, plenty of drama, and heartwarming emotions. I always feel so comfortable in her settings and stories. I want to spend as much time there as I can, surrounded by all the wonderful people. I'm so excited that Blossom will be featured in more stories.

I highly recommend Return to Marsh Hollow and I'm looking forward to the next stories in this series.

Release Day! Southern Simmer by Ashley Farley ~ My Thoughts #SouthernSimmer

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Ashley
on release today of
Southern Simmer!

Southern Simmer by Ashley Farley
Southern Fiction, Sister Fiction, 251 pages
Published January 28, 2025, by AHF Publishing

Bibi’s marriage is in trouble, thanks to her stepdaughter, Scarlett, who has driven a wedge between her and Beau. Frustrated and feeling invisible, Bibi vanishes for a few days, hoping to regain her husband’s attention. But instead of the reaction she’d hoped for, Beau reports her missing—along with his family’s priceless heirloom jewels. Now, Bibi’s escape has become headline news, and she’s caught in a web of suspicion she never saw coming.

Kate is wary of the newcomer—who leaves home without their cell phone? Though she hates to admit it, jealousy flares when Silas, her current love interest, fawns over the striking beauty. But Kate has no real claim on him—they’ve only been on one date. When she spots Silas coming out of Bibi’s room during the night, her suspicions grow. Who exactly is this woman, and what is she hiding?

For Shelby, her unplanned pregnancy isn’t a mistake—it’s a lifeline. She’s convinced this baby will fill the emptiness that has haunted her for far too long. Determined to claim this child as hers alone, Shelby refuses to take a paternity test to find out whether Josh or Matt is the father. But the Maybe Daddies are determined to uncover the truth—whether Shelby’s ready for it or not.

My thoughts about Southern Simmer ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"Bianca put the finishing touches on the tablescape and stepped back to admire her work. Crystal glistened, and silver gleamed."

Going into this book, I knew it was probably going to be the last in this series, which made me sad. That's just how Ashley does it, writing in threes. So I knew a lot of the drama and issues were going to resolved, for better or worse. But you know what? It was an awesome way to spend my time, time with these characters who I came to love and who felt like family to me.

I loved the growth that Shelby and Kate went through to get to their 'better' place. All of the characters grew in their life experiences and were wonderful to be around. Psst, some need a little more work, maybe? But overall, I'm sad to see them all go. Hopefully they will show up in future books. Wink, wink, Ashley. As with all of Ashley's stories, this place feels like home and the characters became my family and friends.

One of the most fun characters is Blossom. She appears in people's lives, just when they need her. Such a wise woman (or angel?). Anyway, she is going to be getting her own spin-off series and I can't wait! I am excited to see what adventures Ashley has in store for her.

I love this series and highly recommend it for a little bit of escape reading. Grab your drink of choice, your snugly blanket, and settle in for a wonderful time!

I received a copy of Southern Simmer from the author and this is my honest opinion.
