The Echoes of Love

The Echoes of Love by Hannah Fielding
Paperback, 360 pages
Published December 6th 2013 by London Wall Publishing

Set against the breathtaking beauty of Italy, The Echoes of Love is a passionate, heart-breaking romance to ignite the senses and rekindle your belief in the power of love.

Seduction, passion and secrets... Venetia Aston-Montagu has escaped to Venice to work in her godmother's architectural practice, putting a lost love behind her.

For the past ten years she has built a fortress around her heart, only to find the walls tumbling down one night of the carnival when she is rescued from masked assailants by an enigmatic stranger, Paolo Barone. Drawn to the powerfully seductive Paolo, despite warnings of his Don Juan reputation and rumours that he keeps a mistress, Venetia can't help being caught up in the smouldering passion that ignites between them.

When she finds herself assigned to a project at his magnificent home deep in the Tuscan countryside, Venetia not only faces a beautiful young rival but also a sinister count and dark forces in the shadows, determined to come between them. Can Venetia trust that love will triumph, even over her own demons? Or will Paolo's carefully guarded, devastating secret tear them apart forever?

About the Author

Hannah Fielding is an incurable romantic. The seeds for her writing career were sown in early childhood, spent in Egypt, when she came to an agreement with her governess Zula: for each fairy story Zula told, Hannah would invent and relate one of her own. Years later – following a degree in French literature, several years of travelling in Europe, falling in love with an Englishman, the arrival of two beautiful children and a career in property development – Hannah decided after so many years of yearning to write that the time was now. Today, she lives the dream: writing full time at her homes in Kent, England, and the South of France, where she dreams up romances overlooking breath-taking views of the Mediterranean.

To date, Hannah has published four novels: Burning Embers, ‘romance like Hollywood used to make’, set in Kenya, 1970; the award-winning Echoes of Love, ‘an epic love story that is beautifully told’ set in turn-of-the-millennium Italy; and books 1 and 2 of the Andalucian Nights trilogy, set in sultry Spain, entitled Indiscretion and Masquerade.

Aphrodite's Tears

Aphrodite's Tears by Hannah Fielding
Paperback, 624 pages
Published April 12th 2018 by London Wall Publishing

In Hannah Fielding’s latest novel a young archaeologist who travels to the remote island of Helios to investigate an ancient shipwreck, becomes caught in a web of dark obsession, mystery and seduction.

In ancient Greece, one of the twelve labours of Hercules was to bring back a golden apple from the Garden of Hesperides. To archaeologist Oriel Anderson, joining a team of Greek divers on the island of Helios seems like the golden apple of her dreams.

Yet the dream becomes a nightmare when she meets the devilish owner of the island, Damian Theodorakis. In shocked recognition, she is flooded with the memory of a romantic night in a stranger’s arms, six summers ago. A very different man stands before her now, and Oriel senses that the sardonic Greek autocrat is hell-bent on playing a cat and mouse game with her.

As they cross swords and passions mount, Oriel is aware that malevolent eyes watch her from the shadows. Dark rumours are whispered about the Theodorakis family. What dangers lie in Helios: a bewitching land where ancient rituals are still enacted to appease the gods, young men risk their lives in the treacherous depths of the Ionian Sea, and the volatile earth can erupt at any moment?

Will Oriel find the hidden treasures she seeks? Or will Damian’s tragic past catch up with them, threatening to engulf them both?

My thoughts about Aphrodite's Tears ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"Urgently wanted: experienced archaeologist to supervise licensed subsea exploration around a small, private Ionian island. Candidates to show impeccable academic credentials and experience of underwater archaeology."

Once again, one of Hannah's story has transported me to a glorious, beautiful place. This time I took a trip to the fascinating, historical country of Greece. The story is full of wonderful descriptions and rich with Greek stories and traditions. I truly felt like I was there.

I have always loved Greek mythology. Aphrodite's Tears is full of references to the Greek gods and goddesses and all of the stories surrounding them.

And then there is the chemistry between Oriel and Damian, which was volatile and exciting. They were instantly attracted to each other but they fight their feelings and try to work together, to keep things on a professional level. But it is hard, oh so hard.

Aphrodite's Tears is beautifully written and I felt like I was taking a vacation to an exotic land, while also enjoying the local flavors and customs.

I received a copy of this book from JKS Commications and am voluntarily reviewing it.

My thoughts about The Echoes of Love ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First line—'The clock struck midnight just as Venetia went past the grand eighteenth-century mirror hanging over the mantelpiece in the hall. Instinctively she gazed into it and her heart skipped a beat.'

I have always dreamed of going to Italy, and Venice in particular. It just seems like such a romantic, beautiful place to be. The Echoes of Love transported me there and it was a wonderful experience. I learned so much about the country, its customs, and its legends.

Hannah Fielding writes such wonderful, descriptive passages that I immediately fell in love with Venice. I enjoyed the visuals that she created with her words, words that made me feel like I was a visitor of that great city and country. I actually listened to Italian music as I was reading the book, which made the experience just that more enjoyable. I felt like I was in that gondola, right along with Venetia and Paolo.

And speaking of Venetia and Paolo. I just have to say - wow, what a passionate love-hate relationship they had going on. There was definitely some strong chemistry going on between them, but everything was just so hard; so hard to move on, and so hard to believe that they could find happiness with each other. I really felt along that they should be together, if only they could just admit it to themselves and realize that it was meant to be.

The Echoes of Love is the first book of Hannah's that I have read and I am not sure why it took me this long to discover her books. Her beautiful prose and the fabulous setting in this book makes me want to read her other books so that I can once again be transported to an exotic location and to experience another beautiful love story.
