Candlelight Christmas by Susan Wiggs
Hardcover, 336 pages
Published October 29th 2013 by Harlequin MIRA
#1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Wiggs invites you to an unforgettable Christmas in the Catskills.
A single father who yearns to be a family man, Logan O'Donnell is determined to create the perfect Christmas for his son, Charlie. The entire O'Donnell clan arrives to spend the holidays in Avalon, a postcard-pretty town on the shores of Willow Lake, a place for the family to reconnect and rediscover the special gifts of the season.
One of the guests is a newcomer to Willow Lake - Darcy Fitzgerald. Sharp-witted, independent and intent on guarding her heart, she's the last person Logan can see himself falling for. And Darcy is convinced that a relationship is the last thing she needs this Christmas.
Yet between the snowy silence of the winter woods, and toasty moments by a crackling fire, their two lonely hearts collide. The magic of the season brings them each a gift neither ever expected - a love to last a lifetime.

My thoughts about Candlelight Christmas ~~
I love Christmas and I love reading Christmas stories. I am not sure why I only read them at Christmas time. Maybe I can find a challenge to join where we read one Christmas book a month, all year. What a great idea!
Candlelight Christmas is another very enjoyable story to add to the list of awesome Christmas stories I've read this year. Susan Wiggs has written a ton of books and I am not sure why this is the first one of her's that I've read. That's what I am loving about this whole blogging gig - finding tons on new titles and wonderful authors that I now 'need' to read!
This is a story of two very likable characters who are each going through their own issues. Logan is a divorced dad, who lives for his son and spends all the time he can with him.
'Since he became a dad, every move he made had been for Charlie's sake.'And then there's Darcy, going through a bitter divorce and leaving beloved step-children behind. She does not ever want to become that attached to a child again. It hurts too much.
'One important discovery Darcy had made in the wake of her divorce was that friends were the people who took care of you when your family let you down.'I loved the ease that I found myself entering the lives of these two people. Their relationship and the progression of their friendship felt very natural and real to me. They are both such good, kind-hearted people and deserve only the best.
And in the end, there is the reminder of what the Christmas season should be about.
'It was the Christmas Spirit. It was the thing all the songs and stories were about - putting somebody's happiness ahead of your own.'
