“Is she okay?” asked Windflower, finally recovering his lost voice.
“She seemed fine,” said Ford. “In fact she looked like she was mothering the others that were brought in with her. But you know this is not a good thing for the Force, and not a good thing for you, Winston, to have her brought in like this. It sends all the wrong signals to the community when one of our officers is involved.”
“I’m not involved,” Windflower started, but then he realized that in fact he was involved, at least by association. “Sheila is her own person, Bill. I don’t control her activities, and I wouldn’t even try to. I did talk to her about getting involved in this protest but she simply said it was something she had to do for her community. I didn’t think it would come this far.”
“Well it has,” said Ford. “Now we all have to deal with the consequences. Let’s just hope this is the end of this situation. What’s the status on the equipment removal?”
“I believe this morning was the last truckload,” said Windflower.
“Good,” said Ford. “Maybe now we can get back to normal over there.”
“Yes, sir,” said Windflower as he hung up the phone. He hoped so too.

This is a captivating and unique mystery which interests me greatly since the locale is extraordinary for me as I have travelled there and love mysteries set in the Maritimes since I am Canadian. What a great feature and giveaway. Thanks. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com
