HER HUSBAND: Alice knows that life could have been different if her first husband had lived, but Nathan’s arrival into her life gave her back the happiness she craved.

HER BEST FRIEND: When Alice met Beth, her best friend, it was the icing on the cake. A friend without judgement, to celebrate with, commiserate with, Beth is the most trustworthy and loyal person that Alice knows. So when Nathan starts disappearing for stretches of time, Alice turns to Beth. But soon, she begins to wonder whether her trust has been misplaced…

  1. I would call this book chick lit, which I don't normally like. But if you do like chick lit, this is probably one of the better ones I have read.

The book is divided into three parts.

Part 1 is Alice’s part. She is emotionally unstable and paranoid. She is on husband number two after husband number one was lost in the mountains. Husband number one seemed perfect, then didn’t; husband number two seems perfect, then doesn’t, then does, then doesn’t, then does, etc. Then there is also Alice’s best friend, Beth. She seems perfect, too, then doesn’t. Is all this due to Alice's unstable paranoia? Maybe so, maybe not.

Then comes Beth's Part 2. Now we see some things that happened before Alice came into the story. But who is this man Beth has picked up?

As much as I dislike chick lit, I have to admit, Part 3 is unpredictable. Alice suddenly becomes a businesswoman, making her own decisions about her own company. Beth and Alice figure everything out but not before lots of surprises.

If you are a fan of chick lit, Part 3 makes this a five-star novel. If you, like me, are not, Part 3 upgrades this at least. (less)

  2. I like Sandie Jones's books -- they usually have a twist I didn't expect. (I don't really think of this one as chick lit.????)

  3. I agree with Dianna - this is not really what I would consider chick lit either. Definitely a great psychological thriller.
