TimeReaping in Deadwood by Ann Charles ~ My Thoughts #TimeReapingInDeadwood @AnnWCharles #DeadwoodMysterySeries

TimeReaping in Deadwood by Ann Charles
(Deadwood #13)
Paranormal, Mystery, 345 pages
Published September 28, 2023 by Ann Charles

Time is a tricky devil. And so is that blasted imp!

Violet Parker needs to catch the little terror before it wreaks even more havoc in the Black Hills. But now that she’s saddled with this dang Timekeeper gig, she has a lot to juggle, like the real monsters wanting to tear the flesh from her bones just for fun.

If she can’t figure out how to wrangle “time” to save her family, the Grim Reaper might come swinging for them next.

But what about that danged honey-loving imp?

“Bravery badges are frickin’ overrated.” ~ Violet Parker

My thoughts about TimeReaping in Deadwood ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"'This here crazy-ass notion of yours has me thinkin' ya got termites in your rafters.' Ol' Man Harvey said, eyeing me over a shopping cart laden with jars of honey."

Oh my, how can this series just keep getting better and better? The adventures of Violet and her supportive, quirky, crazy crew continue to amaze me with each page that I turn. TimeReaping in Deadwood is book #13 in the Deadwood mystery series and these characters have grown on me more and more with each book. I can't wait for another visit to Deadwood to see what they are up to. And believe me, Ann always leaves the reader wanting more!

This installment didn't seem to be quite as drama filled but more character driven, which I loved. I loved the relationship development going on among all the characters. And Harvey—same ol' Harvey—if you know you know. I love Harvey!

I am a huge fan of Ann Charles and have read this series from the start. It is so hard to wait for each new book to come out but the anticipation is part of the fun. Where will she take me next? I totally loved TimeReaping in Deadwood and read it way to fast. I devoured it actually. And now.... I wait.

I highly recommend this series if you want some laughs, drama, creepiness, and a whole bunch of family love and support. TimeReaping in Deadwood for the win!

Fatal Traditions

Fatal Traditions: A Short Story from the Deadwood Humorous Mystery Series by Ann Charles
Deadwood Shorts Book 5
Paperback and e-book, 128 pages
Published October 1st 2019 by Ann Charles

There's a real trick to catching a soul-stealing Hungarian devil made of shadow and smoke.

Unfortunately, Violet Parker doesn't know what that trick is and her aunt's life depends on her figuring it out. But killing is an old family tradition for her ... or rather a fatal tradition.

My thoughts about Fatal Traditions ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First line—"As badass killers went, most days I couldn't drive a nail into a coffin with a sledgehammer."

I absolutely love this series! The characters that Ann Charles has created and woven into this hilarious mystery series are unique, memorable, quirky, and lovable. I am truly amazed at the story-lines this author comes up with as she pits her characters against the evils of another world—and sometimes against each other. I love all of the characters in this series and enjoy dropping back into Deadwood to visit them again. Life is never dull in Violet's world, that's for sure.

I particularly love these shorts that Ann comes out with periodically. First of all, they feed my craving for more until she releases the next book in the series, but I also enjoy how we get a taste of some of the side stories that live outside the normal series. They are great bridges in Violet's world while also satisfying my Deadwood addiction.

Gone Haunting in Deadwood by Ann Charles ~ My Thoughts #GoneHauntingInDeadwood

Gone Haunting in Deadwood

Gone Haunting in Deadwood by Ann Charles
Series: The Deadwood Humorous Mystery
Audio-book narrated by Caroline Shaffer
Published September 11, 2013 by Blackstone Audio, Inc.

Trespassers will be gutted and hung!—Slagton’s Town Motto

Normally, not even drunk on a bet would Violet Parker go to Slagton, a creepy ghost town inhabited by those too stubborn—or deranged—to leave.

But a certain bullheaded Deadwood detective has a problem—his informant from Slagton has gone missing. When Violet is shanghaied into taking a hunting trip to the ghost town to search for the missing snitch, she stumbles into trouble that will take more than a double-barreled shotgun to escape.

Will Violet survive this new Hell that haunts her, or will she end up on Slagton’s growing list of those gutted and hung?

My thoughts about Gone Haunting in Deadwood ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First line—"Friday, December 14 Slagton, South Dakota (in the boonies south of Deadwood) If Hell had a butt crack, the town of Slagton would be located one freckle north of the sphincter."

I absolutely love this series! The characters that Ann Charles has created and woven into this hilarious mystery series are unique, memorable, quirky, and lovable. I am truly amazed at the story-lines this author comes up with as she pits them her characters against the evils of another world, and sometimes against each other. I love all of the characters in this series and love stopping back in Deadwood to visit with them. Life is never dull in Violet's world, that's for sure.

Gone Haunting in Deadwood is book #9 and one might think that a series that has gone on that long might get kind of stale and repetitive. But this series is anything but that. The relationships of the characters have grown and developed with each book—there is definitely nothing stagnate there. And Violet and her crew are constantly coming up against different creatures and learning new ways to conquer them. I have to hand it to Ann, she has one crazy vivid imagination!

I listened to the audio-book of Gone Haunting in Deadwood, as I have several other ones in the past. The narrator does an AMAZING job and I just love listening to this series on audio.
