Going for Two

Going for Two by Laura Chapman
Series: Queen of the League, #2
Print and ebook
Published: January 27th 2016 by Marching Ink

Harper Duquaine is back for another season of fantasy football! This time she’s a year wiser and prepared to dominate the league. But while she finally seems to have her fantasy life in order, reality proves more challenging.

Her plans to peacefully play house with her boyfriend come to a halt when the high school suddenly names Brook its head football coach. The promotion comes with more responsibility on the field and less time at home. It also unexpectedly means more work for Harper, who already has her hands full helping a friend pull off the perfect proposal (while dodging questions about when she and Brook are going to get hitched already). Plus, a new development at work could leave her—and half of the fantasy league—jobless.

With the complications of her career and being “Mrs. Coach” adding up, Harper wonders if she’s committed to the life she’s already building or if there is something else out there.

My thoughts about Going for Two ~~

I love football, especially Nebraska football. I love reading chick-lit. And I love Laura’s Queen of the League series which combines both of these things! And I am learning more about fantasy football with every book she writes.

There is enough football woven into this story to keep me pumped for football, even though the season is over for us. There is high school, college, and pro ball all rolled up together in this grand adventure. And there is plenty of relationship ups and downs to keep me interested as well. There is a very nice balance of the two. This is a perfectly wonderful chick lit/sports story.

Harper and Brook become a loving couple, settling into a comfortable life. That is until Brook is offered the temporary head coach position. He has taken on so much and wants the team to succeed so badly that their relationship starts taking a back seat to football. Harper is not happy about that and starts to question if this was the right road for her to take. Those are the ups and downs I mentioned earlier.

‘I was raised on football, but the game looks completely different when it’s about more than winning or losing. It’s about playing with heart, which matters more.

The two of them will have to work together if they want to get through the season with any hope of their relationship surviving. I really do love these characters and the friends they surround themselves with. Reading Going for Two was like visiting all of them again, catching up where we left off just like old friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed book #1 in this series, First & Goal. I loved that the story continues in Going for Two. And I am super excited for the next in the series, Three & Out. I can’t wait to see where Laura takes these characters next.

And Laura – Go Big Red!! How ‘bout them Huskers?

Release Day! Going for Two by Laura Chapman

Happy Release Day!!

Going for Two

Thank you, Laura, for stopping by The Book Bag today. I am so excited for this series and I wish you all the best.

Happy release day to you and Going for Two!

Thank you, Susan, for featuring Going for Two—and me—today. Enjoy!

In honor of Going for Two’s release, I’m sharing some fun facts about the book and Queen of the League series.

I was still writing the first draft of First & Goal on my 28th birthday when my sister and some friends took me out to see an ‘80s cover band that night. They were a riot. All of the members had big hair—I’m not sure whose was real or wigs—and the lead singer wore hot pink leather pants. And thanks to a special request from my sister, the band wished me a happy birthday from the stage and sang to me. While I already had First & Goal pretty well figured out, I knew I had to feature a cover band eventually, which is how it wound up in Going for Two. While none of the details from that night specifically make it into the book, it was the inspiration.

I hope you will check out the other facts—view a complete listing of locations and dates on my website—and the series.

Be sure and stop back here tomorrow
to read my thoughts about Going for Two.
