Release Day! Working Class Hero by Kay Bratt ~ My Thoughts #WorkingClassHero

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Kay
on the release today of
Working Class Hero!

Working Class Hero by Kay Bratt
Saga Fiction, 328 pages
Published July 8, 2026 by Red Thread Publishing Group

Because in Hart’s Ridge, justice is personal.

In Hart’s Ridge, people look after their own. So when a late-night emergency shakes the town, everyone is quick to rally around the firefighters who risk everything to protect it, especially Fire Chief Alex Mercer, a man known for showing up when things fall apart.

Taylor Gray has learned that stories formed too quickly rarely hold the whole truth.

Small details begin to surface. Quiet fears. Secrets kept behind closed doors. A woman who may have been trying to change the course of her life. As Taylor pulls at loose threads, she finds herself standing against a tide of loyalty and silence that runs deeper than she expected.

Because some fires burn long after the flames are gone.

And sometimes uncovering the truth means questioning the people everyone else trusts.

My thoughts about Working Class Hero ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First lines—"The laundry had been folded twice already."

Working Class Hero is another page turning, thrilling read by Kay Bratt! I don't know how she does it.

A devastating house fire destroys so much. Taylor investigates, trying to determine if it was a horrible accident or if there was something more sinister and intentional going on. As she works the case and tires to prove her suspicions, she also has to look at the facts. The solving of this case took me to a place I did not see coming. I love when that happens!

One of the things I love about this series, along with each interesting case that needs to be solved, is the family dynamics that are covered in each story. The Gray family and their friends are a complicated bunch and each story gives us more of a glimpse into their lives. I've come to think of this group as my friends. I am fully invested in the lives of Taylor and her family members.

The Hart's Ridge series is an amazing set of stories, with memorable characters and interesting plotlines. I highly recommend Working Class Hero, as well as this whole series—it just keeps getting better and better.

And the author just keeps writing this series. Yay for us!!
Book #17, It's Only Love, is expected to be released on September 29, 2026!

I received an ARC of Working Class Hero from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Release Day! Ticket to Ride by Kay Bratt ~ My Thoughts #TicketToRide

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Kay
on the release today of
Ticket to Ride!

Ticket to Ride by Kay Bratt
Saga Fiction, 304 pages
Published March 19, 2026 by Red Thread Publishing Group

When a young woman disappears after leaving rehab, the small town of Hart’s Ridge is thrown into turmoil.

As the search widens, whispers emerge of other girls who vanished under eerily similar circumstances. Families who once trusted the system now fear it. Every answer uncovers a darker question, and every lead pushes the case closer to secrets powerful people would do anything to keep buried.

Then tragedy strikes closer to home—Someone near and dear to Taylor and Sam is missing. With her family fractured and time running out, Taylor is forced to confront dangers on two the predators luring vulnerable girls and the shadowy forces determined to silence anyone who gets too close.

Gripping and emotional, Ticket to Ride is a story of betrayal, resilience, and the unbreakable bond of family when innocence itself is under attack.

My thoughts about Ticket to Ride ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First lines—"The wood-paneled courtroom smelled faintly of disinfectant and despair."

Whew! This story had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. How intense! As Taylor and Sam race against time to find their missing family member, others are on the run from the authorities, hoping to not be charged with a crime they didn't commit.

As the story moves forward, will the good guys win and the bad guys get what's coming to them? I felt like the whole story was a race against time. I love that about Kay's stories. There is plenty of drama to make me want to keep reading, and sometimes I can't read fast enough. This series is so, so good! I am fully invested in the lives of Taylor and her family members.

The Hart's Ridge series is an amazing set of stories, with memorable characters and interesting plots. I highly recommend Ticket to Ride, as well as this whole series—it just keeps getting better and better.

And the author just keeps writing this series. Yay for us!!

Release Day! Tell Me Why by Kay Bratt ~ My Thoughts #TellMeWhy

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Kay
on the release today of
Tell Me Why!

Tell Me Why by Kay Bratt
Saga Fiction, 283 pages
Published November 24, 2025 by Red Thread Publishing Group

In Hart’s Ridge, secrets don’t stay buried. They burn.

When a charred vehicle is found abandoned on the outskirts of town—with a body too damaged to identify inside—private investigator Taylor Gray is called to the scene. But nothing prepares her for the possibility that the victim might be someone she once called family.

As rumors swirl and grief ripples through Hart’s Ridge, Taylor digs deep into the investigation, uncovering ties to a shady local business, a trail of hidden cash, and a growing list of people with something to hide. Every lead pulls her further into a dark web of corruption, addiction, and betrayal—and closer to a truth that someone is desperate to keep buried.

With her instincts sharp and her heart on the line, Taylor must race to connect the dots before another life is lost. Because in this town, justice isn't just personal—it's dangerous.

From Kay Bratt, bestselling author of the Hart’s Ridge series, comes a gripping small-town mystery full of unforgettable characters, shocking twists, and emotional depth. Tell Me Why is perfect for fans of crime fiction, women sleuths, Southern suspense, and stories where family ties cut both ways.

My thoughts about Tell Me Why ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First lines—"Fear is the moment before reality hits. Dread is knowing something is coming and being powerless to stop it."

This book in this wonderful series starts off pretty intense! Taylor is racing to the scene of a horrible car accident, not knowing who was involved. As she ticks off all of her family members and their whereabouts to determine if they are safe, she speeds to the location of the wrecked car. How frightening!

The intensity during Taylor's investigation doesn't wan much at all as she tries to figure out what happened and why. The corruption and the secrets that she uncovers puts everyone around her in danger. I flew through the pages to try to unravel the mystery myself.

I love this series and I love each adventure that Kay Bratt takes me on with her new book. I love the cases that Taylor gets wrapped up in as well as the personal family happenings that are a part of every episode. I get the mystery right along with the family drama. The best of both worlds.

The Hart's Ridge series is an amazing set of stories, with memorable characters and interesting plots. I highly recommend Tell Me Why, along with this whole series—it just keeps getting better and better.

And the author just keeps writing this series. Yay for us!!
Book #15, Ticket to Ride, is expected to be released on March 19, 2026!

Release Day! Now and Then by Kay Bratt ~ My Thoughts #NowAndThen @kaybratt

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Kay
on the release today of
Now and Then!

Now and Then by Kay Bratt
Saga Fiction, 277 pages
Published July 25, 2025 by Red Thread Publishing Group

A woman sleuth. A cold case. A town full of secrets—and a sister fighting a battle of her own.

Taylor Gray has traded her badge for a fresh start. Alongside her husband Sam, she’s launched Graystone Investigations—a private detective agency fueled by grit, intuition, and an unwavering pursuit of justice. Their latest case? A high-stakes cold case that could overturn a decade-old conviction.

A man has spent years behind bars for a brutal crime—but did he do it? Or was he simply the easiest target in a town eager to close the file? Hired by the man’s devoted sister, Taylor and Sam dig deep into a web of missing evidence, forgotten leads, and truths buried under years of silence.

Back home in Hart’s Ridge, Taylor’s younger sister Anna is fighting a quieter battle—one that’s just as harrowing. Suspended from her job as an ER nurse after being accused of theft, Anna is determined to clear her name. But the deeper she digs, the more dangerous the lies become—especially when her ex-husband’s powerful family is pulling the strings. With a blossoming romance on shaky ground and her children caught in the crossfire, Anna must decide how much she's willing to risk to reclaim her life.

As the Gray sisters fight for justice—one in a courtroom, the other in a hospital hallway—they'll learn that sometimes the truth isn’t just hidden…it’s protected by those who fear it most.

From the bestselling author of Hart’s Ridge comes a gripping new chapter in the series—woven with heart, family, suspense, and the kind of justice only the Gray women can deliver.

My thoughts about Now and Then ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First lines—"Janelle Tiffin sat in her kitchen, the dull hum of her old laptop the only sound that filled the quiet room."

What can I say about this series that I haven't already said? I love this series and I love each trip and adventure that Kay Bratt takes me on with every new book. I love the cases that Taylor gets wrapped up in as well as the personal family happenings that are a part of each episode. I get the mystery right along with the family drama. What's not to love?

Now and Then takes Taylor and Sam on a journey to help Sam's relative prove a man's innocence while back at home, Taylor's sister is fighting for her job, after being accused of stealing. The two storylines are compelling and kept me reading, anxious to know the outcome of both incidents.

The Hart's Ridge series is an amazing series, with outstanding characters and interesting stories, stories that the author bases on true crime events. I highly recommend Now and Then as well as this whole series—it just keeps getting better and better.

And the author just keeps writing this series. Yay for us!!
Book #14, Tell Me Why, is expected to be released on November 24, 2025!

New Release! So This is Christmas by Kay Bratt ~ My Thoughts #SoThisIsChristmas @KayBratt

Congrats Kay
on the recent release of
So This is Christmas!

So This is Christmas by Kay Bratt
Saga Fiction, 244 pages
Published December 25, 2024 by Red Thread Publishing Group

The quaint town of Hart's Ridge glistens with holiday magic each Christmas, as festive lights and holiday attractions draw visitors to its charming streets. This year, Deputy Taylor Gray is enjoying a quieter holiday at home, fully embracing her new role in the midst of family festivities.

But peace and goodwill are shattered on Christmas Eve when four bodies are discovered and two children are left as orphans. Taylor finds herself walking a fine line between her desire to please her husband, Sam, who insists she stay out of the investigation, and her passion for keeping the town safe. As she navigates her restrictions, she must find a way to contribute without jeopardizing her promise to Sam.

So This Is Christmas is book eleven of the bestselling Hart's Ridge small-town mystery series, written by Kay Bratt, million-copy best-selling author.

My thoughts about So This is Christmas ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First lines—"The snow outside glistened under the afternoon sun while, inside, the Colburn household was glowing with the warmth of Christmas."

I absolutely love this series, I love everything about it! And I love reading Christmas stories during the holidays. So when one of my favorite, must-read authors publishes a Christmas story in her amazing series, it's like Santa came down my chimney and left me all the gifts!

Kay Bratt's series has it all. Great characters, a wonderful family full of it's own drama, and a crime that begs to be solved. This story starts out as a gentle story of a family getting ready for Christmas.... and then it wasn't that any more. Whoa! I was hooked from the first pages.

The drama of four murdered neighbors is almost more than this community can handle. It tears Taylor apart that she is recuperating and can't be as involved in solving the case. Twists and turns made me rush to the end.

Another thing I love about this series is the growth and depth of the characters that we get with each book. Their lives just go on and we get to witness all of their ups and downs, right along with everyone else.

I've loved each book in this series and am always anxiously waiting for the next installment. Check out the Hart's Ridge series!

I received an ARC of So This is Christmas from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Release Day! A Wish in the Wind by Kay Bratt ~ My Thoughts #AWishInTheWind @kaybratt

Happy Release Day!

A Wish in the Wind by Kay Bratt
Women's Friendship Fiction, 116 pages
Published October 17, 2024 by Red Thread Publishing

Wishes in branches tied with string. Someone's hopes. Another's dreams.

It’s a new year and Linden Falls is a new place for Hunter Glenn and his daughter, Ava, to make a fresh start. When he goes to hang a wish on the tree in the center of town at the insistence of his daughter, a gust of wind strips it from his fingers and off it blows to somewhere who only knows. He’s not surprised. That pretty much sums up his life. It’s always been out of control.

Nicole is a long-term Linden Falls local who has recently gone through a welcome revelation that has changed her life forever. She’s looking forward to the new year now that she’s not alone. She wouldn’t dare wish for more good things, but when a slip of paper falls onto the tray she is using to serve a customer at the Crooked Porch, she might just find out that fate has even more in store for her.

My thoughts about A Wish in the Wind ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First line—"Sunday afternoons were meant for steaming mugs of tea and long, slow conversations."

I haven't read a book by Kay Bratt that I haven't totally enjoyed. I fall in love with her characters and the places she creates.

A Wish in the Wind is a quick, lovely story centering around Hunter and his daughter, Ava. Hunter picked Linden Falls as a place to start over and heal. The community embraces this duo and the warm feelings they experienced hopped off of the pages and into my heart. We should all be so lucky to find someplace a beautiful and welcoming as Linden Falls.

I loved this story so much and it was the perfect escape read that I needed right now. I highly recommend this book, as well as this whole series. And if you haven't read anything by Kay Bratt, that really needs to change!

Kay's newest book, A Wish in the Wind, is book 17 in The Wishing Tree Series. The books in the series are by different authors and I have read a few of them. I love that I'm taken back to a community that I have come to love and get to meet new characters. It's also a way to 'try out' new-to-me authors. I noticed that three other books in the series are also being released on the 17th. I'll be checking those out, for sure!

I received an ARC of A Wish in the Wind from the author and this is my honest opinion of the book.

Release Day! Hello Little Girl by Kay Bratt ~ My Thoughts #HelloLittleGirl @kaybratt

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Kay
on the release today of
Hello Little Girl!

Hello Little Girl by Kay Bratt
Saga Fiction, 256 pages
Published July 29, 2024 by Red Thread Publishing Group

In the picturesque town of Hart's Ridge, where secrets linger and shadows dance, Deputy Taylor Gray finds herself at a crossroads in the much-anticipated tenth installment of the beloved small-town mystery series, Hello Little Girl.

Taylor is given all she's ever wanted when her family is complete, but will it be enough to put them as priority and stop putting her career first?

Meanwhile, a woman held in captivity grapples with a moral dilemma of her own. Trapped between the desire to reclaim her freedom and the urge to save another, she must summon the courage to make a choice that will shape not only her destiny but also the lives of those she holds dear.

Join Deputy Taylor Gray and the resilient inhabitants of Hart's Ridge as they embark on a journey of self-discovery, redemption, and ultimately, the triumph of the human spirit. Hello Little Girl promises to be a riveting addition to the series, leaving readers spellbound until the final revelation.

My thoughts about Hello Little Girl ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first line.)

First lines—"Caleb Grimes felt like ripping off his badge and throwing it at the sheriff."

If you have not started this series, what are you waiting for? Each book endears me even more to this wonderful but dysfunctional family.

With each story, we get to know the Gray family a little bit more. On top of that, there is always a case or two that Taylor gets involved with. The case she is currently working on has been ongoing and has taken a long time to resolve. And then there is the fact that she now goes undercover. Yikes! Not sure how that's going to work out for her.

I love the family elements included in these stories as well as the true crime aspect to each installment. Hello Little Girl was pretty intense, and to be honest, I gasped out loud at one point. I love when an author can do that!

I loved Hello Little Girl and I highly recommend it, as well as this whole series. The Hart's Ridge Series is absolutely amazing. Book #11 is scheduled to be released in December and I can't wait!

I received an ARC of Hello Little Girl from the author and this is my honest opinion.

As a child advocate, she spent a number of years volunteering in a Chinese orphanage, as well as provided assistance for several nonprofit organizations that support children in China, including An Orphan's Wish (AOW), Pearl River Outreach, and Love Without Boundaries. In the USA, she actively served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children in Georgia, and spear-headed numerous outreach programs for underprivileged children in the South Carolina area.

As a wanderer, Kay has lived in nearly three dozen different homes, on two continents and in states from coast to coast in the USA. She's traveled to Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Central America, Bahamas, and Australia. Currently she and her soulmate of more than 25 years enjoy life in their forever home on the banks of Lake Hartwell in Georgia, USA.

Kay has been described as southern, spicy, and a little sassy. Social media forces her to overshare and you don't want to miss some of the antics that goes on with her and the Bratt Pack.
