Release Day! No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding by Catherine Mack ~ My Thoughts @CatherineMcKenzieAuthor @MinotaurBooks #NoOneWasSupposedToDieAtThisWedding

Happy Release Day!

Congrats Catherine
on the release today of
No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding!

No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding by Catherine Mack
Cozy Mystery, Humorous Fiction, 337 pages
Published May 13, 2025 by Minotaur Books

The second in a witty, USA Today bestselling series following author Eleanor Dash as she goes from wedding guest to murder mystery investigator at her best friend’s wedding on Catalina Island.

Attending your best friend’s wedding should be a piece of (wedding) cake, but not for Eleanor Dash, bestselling author of the Vacation Mysteries series. Because murder seems to follow her every time she goes on vacation and is definitely her uninvited plus-one to the special occasion.

Emma Wood, Eleanor’s best friend since childhood, is starring in the movie adaptation of When in Rome, Eleanor’s first novel. Emma is also marrying Fred Winters, a major movie star and Emma’s co-star, who just happens to be playing Connor Smith, Eleanor’s ex and leading man of the series.

Filming wraps and they invite the whole cast and crew to their wedding at nearby Catalina Island. There may be a storm headed their way—because of course there is—but nothing will stop their nuptials . . . that is until Emma receives a note that says “Someone is going to die at the wedding.”

Eleanor is a professional at this point, and she’ll do everything she can to uncover the murderer so true love can prevail . . . before it’s too late for her and the rest of the storm-trapped wedding party.

My thoughts about No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"If a Body Drops in a Broom Closet, Does It Make a Sound?"

I totally loved the first book in this series, Every Time I Go on Vacation, Someone Dies, so I knew when I settled in to read this one that I was going to have an entertaining time. And boy did I! I think I spent the entire time with a smile on my face, if not LOL, because of the crazy antics of Eleanor and her friends.

It's supposed to a beautiful wedding getaway on a remote island but then a storm threatens to ruin the ceremony. But no, waita death threat and then a dead body does that. As things go from bad to worse, the direness of the situation and the bumbling of the people involved kept me amused even as I wanted the mystery to be solved and no one else to be hurt.

This is a hilarious series and I love everything about it. I can't wait for more! No pressure, Catherine, but well, maybe there kind of is, a little. I highly recommend No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding as well as the first book in this series.

I received an ARC of No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding and this is my honest opinion of the book.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? April 7, 2025 #IMWAYR

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's an opportunity to visit other blogs and to comment on their reads. And ... you can add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Seems like I haven't been reading as much lately. The weather is sometimes getting nicer—some days yes, some days no— so we are spending more time outside on patio. I should be reading out there!

We also have been watching out grandson while his parents are out of town. So regular meals, bath time, early bedtime and all that routine, then off to school in the morning. They will be back tomorrow night so we are on the home stretch now. We are making pizza cupcakes together for dinner tonight. And I am loving every minute of it!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you all have a good week.
Happy reading!
