Back to the Beach Cottage by Joanne DeMaio ~ My Thoughts #BackToTheBeachCottage

Back to the Beach Cottage by Joanne DeMaio
Print and e-book, 118 pages
Published January 6th 2021 by Joanne DeMaio

From New York Times bestselling author Joanne DeMaio comes the much-anticipated sequel to The Beach Cottage.

Winding to the sea is a nearly hidden dirt road. Acres of wooded forest engulf it. Reaching skyward alongside that road are towering trees, their branches gloved in icy white. In the middle of winter, few turn onto this tucked-away Connecticut road. Truthfully, most wouldn't know it leads to a secluded beach community.

Mack Martinelli sure does, though. He fell even more in love with his wife Avery there.

As Mack steers his pickup down the frost-heaved road, night settles in. Salt air presses close. It's been a long time, but he's finally ready to come Back to the Beach Cottage.

My thoughts about Back to the Beach Cottage ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First lines—"A lone pickup truck drives along the main drag. The night is still, and the wispy clouds pass in front of a crescent moon. There's a coldness, too, that settles like a fog on everything."

I loved going back to the beach house and catching up with Mack and Avery. The current pandemic affects everyone, including this young couple. Spending time at the beach cottage is restorative for them, their relationship, and actually for me too. Joanne's books are always so descriptive that I feel that I am there—on the beach, taking in the salt air, and in the case of this book, feeling the cold, enjoying the snow and the fireplace.

Back to the Beach Cottage was a nice, surprise release that I quickly devoured. Joanne's books are always filled with caring, kind people, and set in beautiful, relaxing places. I always feel like I am taking a mini-vacation when I lose myself in one of her books.

I received a copy of Back to the Beach Cottage from the author and this is my honest opinion.

The Beach Cottage by Joanne DeMaio ~ My Thoughts #TheBeachCottage

The Beach Cottage by Joanne DeMaio
Print and e-book, 118 pages
Published August 16th 2020 by Joanne DeMaio

From New York Times bestselling author Joanne DeMaio comes a love story set at a tucked-away cottage by the sea.

For Mack and Avery Martinelli, the summer is their oyster. They can spend all day on the beach, or not. Cruise the dusty beach roads, or never leave their deck overlooking Long Island Sound. Fill their itinerary with excursions on the Connecticut shore, or while away the hours in a shingled cottage. Every decision this week is theirs to make.

Until it's not. Until life as they know it changes -- and suddenly the Martinellis have to face only each other. Face each other in The Beach Cottage and see what they have, or don't have, between them.

My thoughts about The Beach Cottage ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"'Not too much further', the man driving says as he turns the car off the main drag.' The beach cottage is at the end of that dirt road.'"

What a wonderful surprise to hear Joanne had a unexpected novella that has just been released. I love her stories and couldn't wait to read her new one.

Like all of Joanne's other novels, The Beach Cottage has a wonderful, relaxing setting and warm, memorable characters. Mack and Avery are ready to spend some glorious time at the beach, celebrating their new life—and then everything changes.

As they struggle to find out what is important in life, the reader gets a close up look at the world we are living in now. The Beach Cottage will make you want to stop and think about what is important to you in your world.

I received a copy of The Beach Cottage from the author and this is my honest opinion.
