I have sooooo many books! I have a ton of print books and probably even more e-books. The Book Spotlight feature that I post every Saturday is a way for me to clear my shelves and to share some of the books I have. There are a lot of different reasons that I might be letting some of my books go, the biggest one is that when we moved I discovered just how many books I really do have. This feature is a way for my to cull my collection and to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy them.
This week, I have the CD audio book of Water for Elephants that I am giving away. I read this book and also saw the movie. I loved them both! I was able to snag ttitle through Audible so I'll let someone enjoy my CD version of this wonderful book. Have you read it or seen the movie?
Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!
Water for Elephants
Water for Elephants
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Audio CD, Unabridged, 12 discs
Published May 24th 2006 by Highbridge Audio
Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It’s the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. There he meets the freaks, grifters, and misfits that populate this world. He introduces us to Marlena, beautiful star of the equestrian act; to August, her charismatic but twisted husband (and the circus’s animal trainer); and to Rosie, the seemingly untrainable elephant Jacob cares for.
Beautifully written, with a luminous sense of time and place, Water for Elephants tells of love in a world in which love’s a luxury few can afford.

Sorry Susan, no inspiration from me this year. No big plans, just reading, barbecue and gardening. Thank you
ReplyDeleteHi Linda - that sounds like a nice relaxing way to spend the summer! Enjoy!
DeleteNo travel summer plans sorry, but excited about this CD. I've not yet seen the movie or read the book. I sure can use this in my car CD player in the L.A. traffic. Of course my summer plans are to read and listen to many books! ~Deb
ReplyDeleteReading and listening to books is a wonderful way to spend your summer vacation. Happy reading!
DeleteThis is the first summer I won't be at the beach because my friends decided to go to the mountains instead! I'm a little bummed because I prefer the sea! :( I still haven't decided whether to go alone somewhere with the sea or go with them!

That would be a tough call. I love the mountains myself and we are hoping to get out to Colorado in September. Hubby and I both have sisters living there so we can get in some family time too. I hope you have a great time, whatever you decide to do.
DeleteWe had an above ground pool installed at the end of May, so I am stay-cationing all summer. Lots of sunscreen, fridge full of pop, freezer full of popsicles, and books to read! The peak of our Michigan summer seems to be here, so I can be found floating in the pool. xo
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful, Jen. And your own pool? Fantastic. I can just imagine it, on a floating lounge chair in the middle of the pool, with a cool drink and a good book. Heaven! Enjoy!!
DeleteI already went! :D My family and I went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! It was an amazing beach!!

Wow! That's awesome! Hubby and I went on an Alaskan cruise last September. First time ever! And it was so wonderful. I want to go again! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
DeleteWe spend a lot of time at our cabin, and always enjoy being outdoors.
ReplyDeleteOh, a cabin sounds nice.
DeleteI haven't done much yet this summer - just one camping trip. A vacation is planned for sept though!
ReplyDeleteI think we are going to be able to go somewhere in September too. The summer is going by so fast.
DeleteWe just got back from visiting my mother-in-law and my parents in California. We hadn't seen them in over a year. It was great spending quality time.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! Family times can be fun times. We are going to see family this weekend,
