Book Spotlight Giveaway! A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving

I have sooooo many books! The Book Spotlight Giveaway feature that I post every Saturday is a way for me to clear my shelves and to share some of the many books I have. This feature is a way for my to cull my collection and to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy these treasures.

The book this week is one that my book club read a long time ago and we loved it. I got this copy from one of my friends and now I'm passing it on to one of you.

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

A Prayer for Owen Meany

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
Hardcover, 543 pages
Published March 28th 1989 by William Morrow & Company

Eleven-year-old Owen Meany, playing in a Little League baseball game in Gravesend, New Hampshire, hits a foul ball and kills his best friend's mother. Owen doesn't believe in accidents; he believes he is God's instrument.

What happens to Owen after that 1953 foul is both extraordinary and terrifying. At moments a comic, self-deluded victim, but in the end the principal, tragic actor in a divine plan, Owen Meany is the most heartbreaking hero John Irving has yet created.
