This OR That #Giveaway Week 9 ~ About a Girl by Lindsey Kelk OR Matched by Ally Condie #AboutAGirl #Matched

I have sooooo many books!

The This or That Giveaway! feature that I post every Saturday is a way for me to share some of the many books I've read, as well as clearing off my overloaded shelves and giving someone else a chance to enjoy these treasures.

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

This week I have two books that are the first books in their series. I didn't plan it that way, it just happened.

The first one, About a Girl, is one I read when it came out in 2015. I gave it 4 stars and sadly, I didn't read any more of the series. I meant to, it just didn't happen. You can find the series on Goodreads here and read my thoughts here.

About a Girl
(A Girl #1)
by Lindsey Kelk
ARC ~ Pub date April, 2015

Tess Brookes has always been a Girl with a Plan. But when the Plan goes belly up, she’s forced to reconsider.

After accidently answering her flatmate Vanessa’s phone, she decides that since being Tess isn’t going so well, she might try being Vanessa. With nothing left to lose, she accepts Vanessa’s photography assignment to Hawaii – she used to be an amateur snapper, how hard can it be? Right?

But Tess is soon in big trouble. And the gorgeous journalist on the shoot with her, who is making it very clear he’d like to get into her pants, is an egotistical monster. Far from home and in someone else’s shoes, Tess must decide whether to fight on through, or ‘fess up and run…

The second book, Matched, is one I was interested in reading when it came out in 2011. At that point in my reading life, I was really into YA books. I've drifted away from that genre and just never got to this one. I'm letting it go. You can find the whole series on Goodreads.

Matched
(Matched #1)
by Ally Condie
Paperback ~ Pub date September 2011

In the Society, officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s hardly any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one…until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow—between perfection and passion.

Matched is a story for right now and storytelling with the resonance of a classic.

  1. I usually read about 10 books a month. My self-imposed Goodreads goal has me reading a few more than that and sometimes I feel the pressure, which is nuts, right? I'm retired and would love to read even more than I do, but life, you know.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Pre-pandemic, I was reading pretty much nothing. In the last several months, I've started going thru my bookshelf. I'm averaging about 4 books a month now.
