Well, we had quite the ending to our week. Big storms were predicted and man did we get them! We ended up with a tornado warning Thursday about 5:30 pm. Some did touch down around us and we experienced a haboob and a derecho (a haboob happens when a thunderstorm spawns such powerful winds that they generate a dust storm that drastically reduces visibility. Meteorologists said that the wall of dust is technically part of a derecho, which is a powerful wind storm extending more than 240 miles, with a line of quickly-moving thunderstorms.) You can all thank me later for the weather lesson. 😁
There were reports of 90+ mph winds in places. Everything went black because of the dust blowing and then we lost power. We were without electricity for about 28 hours. Luckily we still had water. There are trees down everywhere in town. We drove around a bit last night and it is devastating to see all those old trees toppled by the roots. I didn't hear of any injuries, thankfully, just lots of damage.
