Book Spotlight and a Giveaway! The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck

I have sooooo many books! I have a ton of print books and probably even more e-books. The Book Spotlight feature that I typically post every Saturday is a way for me to clear my shelves and to share some of the books I have. There are a lot of different reasons that I might be letting some of my books go, the biggest one is that we recently moved and I discovered how many books I really do have. This feature is a way for my to cull my collection and to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy them.

The book that I am featuring this week is one that I discovered I had 2 copies of when I was unpacking my boxes of books after our move. I don't need 2 copies. One of you will be lucky!

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

The Wedding Dress

The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck
Paperback, 343 pages
Published April 3rd 2012 by Thomas Nelson Publishers

Four brides. One Dress.

A tale of faith, redemption, and timeless love.

Charlotte owns a chic Birmingham bridal boutique. Dressing brides for their big day is her gift . . . and her passion. But with her own wedding day approaching, why can't she find the perfect dress...or feel certain she should marry Tim?

Then Charlotte discovers a vintage dress in a battered trunk at an estate sale. It looks brand-new-shimmering with pearls and satin, hand-stitched and timeless in its design. But where did it come from? Who wore it? Who welded the lock shut and tucked the dog tags in that little sachet? Who left it in the basement for a ten-year-old girl? And what about the mysterious man in the purple vest who insists the dress had been "redeemed."

Charlotte's search for the gown's history-and its new bride-begins as a distraction from her sputtering love life. But it takes on a life of its own as she comes to know the women who have worn the dress. Emily from 1912. Mary Grace from 1939. Hillary from 1968. Each with her own story of promise, pain, and destiny. And each with something unique to share. For woven within the threads of the beautiful hundred-year-old gown is the truth about Charlotte's heritage, the power of courage and faith, and the timeless beauty of finding true love.

  1. Nothing like moving to really force you to go through things! I am not moving and find it hard to get motivated to tackle some of the basement chaos! Baby steps, right!?

    1. Our move happened so quickly that we didn't really have time to go things like I would have liked. Stuff just got put in boxes. And most of it is still in boxes. Except for my books. I had to get my books out and have them around me!

  10. When we moved last February, the schools had 8 snow/bad weather days between Christmas break and the end of February. My boys were 2and 8. They would go behind me and unpack. So we had to jam a lot of it into just before the move and ship the kids off to the grandparents. We still had 3 garage sales. We were in an apartment and had tried garage sales, which were not successful or I would cart kids and stuff to a friend's house and join hers, but did not get rid of much there either. We donated stuff and debated stuff. But my husband says to shoot him if he even thinks of moving for a couple years.

    1. Moving is tough. We ended up having a garage sale before we moved didn't get rid of near enough. There was no way I was going to take any of that stuff back into my house after I had already decided I didn't want/need it. We donated so much that summer!
