Hidden

Hidden by Catherine McKenzie
Hardcover, 304 pages
Published April 1st 2014 by New Harvest

While walking home from work one evening, Jeff Manning is struck by a car and killed. Two women fall to pieces at the news: his wife, Claire, and his co-worker Tish. Reeling from her loss, Claire must comfort her grieving son as well as contend with funeral arrangements, well-meaning family members, and the arrival of Jeff’s estranged brother, who was her ex-boyfriend.

Tish volunteers to attend the funeral on her company’s behalf, but only she knows the true risk of inserting herself into the wreckage of Jeff’s life. Told through the three voices of Jeff, Tish, and Claire, Hidden explores the complexity of relationships, the repercussions of our personal choices, and the responsibilities we have to the ones we love.

My thoughts about Hidden ~~
(originally posted here on October 24, 2015)

I have been a huge fan of Catherine and her books since I read her very first one, Spin. And she just gets better with each book. Hidden is a story that captured me from the very first page. I was immediately swept up in the worlds of Jeff, Clare, and Tish.

Hidden is told from the alternating viewpoints of the three main characters. I love stories like that because I love getting more than one perspective of the situations that the characters find themselves in, the point of view is always different depending on who is experiencing it. Catherine does a wonderful job of presenting this story in three ways.

I loved everything about this book and these characters. It was an emotional story to read with twists that I was not expecting. But then, life is full of surprises and twists, isn't it?

I love each new book of Catherine's more than the previous one. Her newest book is always my new favorite. I can hardly wait to see what's next from her. I know I am going to love it!
