This or That #Giveaway! Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage OR The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff #BabyTeeth #TheLostGirlsOfParis

So.... if you've been stopping by for the last few years to check out my Book Spotlight Giveaways and things look a little different to you, never fear, you are in the right place. I was getting a little bored after so many years of doing these posts so I'm changing it up a bit. If you stopped by last week, what do you think of the changes?

First of all, instead of featuring one book each week, I'm going to feature two, with the winner being able to choose whichever one he/she wants me to send them. It's all about choices, right? Which ever book is not selected will be featured again another time.

I'm still going to be using Rafflecopter, for the time being, but I may change that in the future, after I check out what other options are out there.

I have sooooo many books!

The This or That Giveaway! feature that I post every Saturday is a way for me to clear my shelves and to share some of the many books I have. It's a way for me to cull my collection and give someone else the chance to enjoy these treasures.

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

This book came out in 2018 and kind of creeped me out. What a nasty little girl! Even with the creepiness, it was still a 5 ⭐ read for me.

Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage
ARC ~ Pub date 7/17/18

Meet Hanna.

She’s the sweet-but-silent angel in the adoring eyes of her Daddy. He’s the only person who understands her, and all Hanna wants is to live happily ever after with him. But Mommy stands in her way, and she’ll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her. Ideally for good.

Meet Suzette.

She loves her daughter, really, but after years of expulsions and strained home schooling, her precarious health and sanity are weakening day by day. As Hanna’s tricks become increasingly sophisticated, and Suzette's husband remains blind to the failing family dynamics, Suzette starts to fear that there’s something seriously wrong, and that maybe home isn’t the best place for their baby girl after all.

The second book this week is probably one of the first historical fiction novels that I read, which opened up a whole new genre for me to explore. Another 5 ⭐ read for me!

The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff
ARC ~ Pub date 1/29/19

From the author of the runaway bestseller The Orphan’s Tale comes a remarkable story of friendship and courage centered around three women and a ring of female spies during World War II.

1946, Manhattan

Grace Healey is rebuilding her life after losing her husband during the war. One morning while passing through Grand Central Terminal on her way to work, she finds an abandoned suitcase tucked beneath a bench. Unable to resist her own curiosity, Grace opens the suitcase, where she discovers a dozen photographs—each of a different woman. In a moment of impulse, Grace takes the photographs and quickly leaves the station.

Grace soon learns that the suitcase belonged to a woman named Eleanor Trigg, leader of a ring of female secret agents who were deployed out of London during the war. Twelve of these women were sent to Occupied Europe as couriers and radio operators to aid the resistance, but they never returned home, their fates a mystery. Setting out to learn the truth behind the women in the photographs, Grace finds herself drawn to a young mother turned agent named Marie, whose daring mission overseas reveals a remarkable story of friendship, valor and betrayal.

Vividly rendered and inspired by true events, New York Times bestselling author Pam Jenoff shines a light on the incredible heroics of the brave women of the war, and weaves a mesmerizing tale of courage, sisterhood and the great strength of women to survive in the hardest of circumstances

  1. I don't ever remember a time when I wasn't reading. The books that come to mind when I think of my early years are The Bobbsey Twins series. I loved those twins. We lived in a small town with a small Carnegie library and I think I must have read every book inside those walls. I ended up working in libraries for almost 30 years as an adult. I love books, and reading!

  2. I have been a non-stop reader since at least first grade. I don't remember the first book I read. I do remember the first book I cried over. That was Charlotte's Web when I was in about second grade.

    1. Ah, me too. And the Hardy Boys (cause they were in our library, so why not?) I also read all of the 'Sue Barton, Student Nurse' books. I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up after reading those books.

    1. I'm not familiar with that series. I'll have to check it out. Sounds intriguing. Where do you live now, Rita? And how did you come to live in Australia, if you don't mind me asking?

  5. Anne of Green Gables. The entire series slowly since it was hardcover borrowed from the library. I was an avid reader when I was young and still love reading.

    1. You know, I have never read those books. And I want to someday. I guess I need to make it more of a priority and move them further up my list of books, at least the first book, right?

  7. On my own, the first I can remember is The Phantom Tollbooth. I haven't read it in years or seen the animation in years. I should revisit it.

    1. What a great series! We live very close to DeSmet here in SD and they have a museum and the homestead of the family. They also do a pageant in the summertime. It's kind of a big deal around here. :)
