Novelista Girl
Novelista Girl by Meredith Schorr
Series: Blogger Girl #2
Published: January 4, 2016 by Booktrope Editions
Readers first met sassy Kimberly Long in Blogger Girl, and now the feisty New Yorker is back in a sequel packed with quick wit, friendship, heartache, and, of course, romance.
Kim runs the most popular chick lit book blog on the web, loves playing house with her sexy lawyer boyfriend, Nicholas, and is finally pursuing her lifelong dream to become a published author. At first glance, her life is five-pink-champagne-flutes worthy.
But is there more to the story than meets the eye?
After hearing the phrase “chick lit is dead” more times than she’s read Bridget Jones's Diary, Kim is driven to desperate measures, seeking advice from up-and-coming chick lit author, Hannah Marshak, her high school nemesis and resident “mean girl.” As if Kim doesn't have enough on her plate balancing her secretarial duties with her blog Pastel Is the New Black, shrugging off the growing pile of agent rejections, and keeping her best friend from turning green over Kim’s budding friendship with Hannah, Nicholas is so blinded by his career ambitions, he doesn't see that their home sweet home could use more than a dash of sugar.
This is the year when all of Kim's dreams—professional and romantic—are supposed to come true, but will the story have a happily ever after, or will Kim end up unpublished and all alone?
This novel can be read as a sequel or as a standalone and is best accompanied by a cocktail, preferably a pink one.
My thoughts about Novelista Girl ~~
I read and loved Blogger Girl when it came out. You can read my thoughts here. And I love it when authors write sequels to books that I love.
One of the main reasons I love this series, besides the fact that the books are about a blogger and I can relate to that so much, is the other fact that there were such great characters in Blogger Girl and now with Novelista Girl, I get to revisit them and catch up on their lives.
Kimberly's life is going pretty well. She is with the man of her dreams, her best friends have found the loves of their lives, and she has written a book that she is now trying to get published. What could go wrong? Let me tell you, there is plenty of drama in this book as one thing after another starts to go wrong for Kim.
I went on an emotional rollercoaster ride with Kimberly as she has boyfriend issues, best friend issues, issues with her high school nemesis, and as she experiences the ups and downs of her book publishing journey. I was ecstatic when she was on top of the world and was teary eyed and down when things were not so good. Meredith was able to make me feel all the feels.
Novelista Girl is another wonderful, genuine chick-lit story that drew me in and allowed me another fun escape to Kimberly's world. I really hope to get to go back there soon!

About the author
A born and bred New Yorker, Meredith Schorr discovered her passion for writing when she began to enjoy drafting work-related emails way more than she was probably supposed to. After trying her hand penning children’s stories and blogging her personal experiences, Meredith found her calling writing chick lit and contemporary women’s fiction.
She secures much inspiration from her day job as a hard-working trademark paralegal and her still single (but looking) status. Meredith is also the co-founder of BookBuzz, a live author/reader event held annually. She is a loyal New York Yankees fan and an avid runner. Novelista Girl is her fifth novel.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review, Susan. I'm so glad you love this series! A YA prequel will be out this summer - Kim, Bridget and Hannah in High School. And a third "adult" one will most likely be written, but I have a couple of other books to write ahead of it in line...
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Meredithe! The prequel must have been what I saw. I look forward to reading it.
DeleteCongratulations on Novelista Girl! I am looking forward to your new YA release too!
