This OR That #Giveaway Week 5 ~ Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage OR He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly #BabyTeeth #HeSaidSheSaid

I have sooooo many books!

The This or That Giveaway! feature that I post every Saturday is a way for me to clear my shelves and to share some of the many books I have. It's a way for me to cull my collection and give someone else the chance to enjoy these treasures.

The books that I'm featuring this week are the two that weren't selected in the past giveaways. I'm not sure if this is how I'm going to be doing these in the future. I may wait a bit before featuring them again.

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

This book came out in 2018 and kind of creeped me out. What a nasty little girl! Even with the creepiness, it was still a 5 ⭐ read for me.

Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage
ARC ~ Pub date 7/17/18

Meet Hanna.

She’s the sweet-but-silent angel in the adoring eyes of her Daddy. He’s the only person who understands her, and all Hanna wants is to live happily ever after with him. But Mommy stands in her way, and she’ll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her. Ideally for good.

Meet Suzette.

She loves her daughter, really, but after years of expulsions and strained home schooling, her precarious health and sanity are weakening day by day. As Hanna’s tricks become increasingly sophisticated, and Suzette's husband remains blind to the failing family dynamics, Suzette starts to fear that there’s something seriously wrong, and that maybe home isn’t the best place for their baby girl after all.

I read this one when it came out in 2017. Such a great book! I gave it 5 ⭐s.

He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly
ARC ~ Pub date 6/6/17

In the summer of 1999, Kit and Laura travel to a festival in Cornwall to see a total eclipse of the sun. Kit is an eclipse chaser; Laura has never seen one before. Young and in love, they are certain this will be the first of many they’ll share.

But in the hushed moments after the shadow passes, Laura interrupts a man and a woman. She knows that she saw something terrible. The man denies it. It is her word against his.

The victim seems grateful. Months later, she turns up on their doorstep like a lonely stray. But as her gratitude takes a twisted turn, Laura begins to wonder—did she trust the wrong person?

15 years later, Kit and Laura are living under assumed names and completely off the digital grid: no Facebook, only rudimentary cell phones, not in any directories. But as the truth catches up to them, they realize they can no longer keep the past in the past.

  1. Depending on the season here is South Dakota, I love reading out on our patio in nice weather. In colder weather, I love reading in the library that hubs built for me when we moved in. I love seeing the shelves of our books all around me.

  2. My favorite places to read vary seasonally too--in colder months, I'm in a cozy reading chair in my living room. In summer, I love to read on my front porch. I am enjoying your new format for giving away books.

    1. I love reading outside. Although sometimes I get distracted by the birds.

  4. My favorite place to read is at the bar in our kitchen in a tall wooden chair with a wooden backrest. I know this sounds uncomfortable to most people, but it's perfect for my bad back.

    1. Hey, I get it about bad backs. Hubs and our DIL suffer with bad backs and I know how hard it is for them to get comfortable.

  5. I already read BABY TEETH and probably commented on my opinion of that book back when you featured it.

  6. Your new way of doing giveaways, giving me a this-or-that choice, is much more enjoyable. Thanks for doing it this way, and keep it up. The only thing I dislike about it is your requirement to use twitter for a better chance to win. Because of that, I probably never will.

    1. I changed Twitter to a one-time option to make it more fair. You can now come back everyday for another entry. You may be a winner sooner than you think!

  7. I enjoy reading on our couch with the window behind me!

    1. Sounds delightful. I like looking out the window, but then there are the distractions if I do that. :)

  8. On the couch, tucked in with a blanket and a cup of tea.

    1. I used to get a lot of reading done in the car, esp. when my kids were in sports, during practice times. And now that I'm retired, and COVID, I'm not in the car very much.

  10. I usually like to read in the living room on the couch recliner, but sometimes I like to read while snuggled in bed.

I read Baby Teeth when it came out... freaked me out.

    1. Baby Teeth was a freaky read, for sure!

I would be instantly asleep if I read in bed. The recliner is sometimes iffy as well.
