This OR That #Giveaway Week 5 ~ Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage OR He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly #BabyTeeth #HeSaidSheSaid

I have sooooo many books!

The This or That Giveaway! feature that I post every Saturday is a way for me to clear my shelves and to share some of the many books I have. It's a way for me to cull my collection and give someone else the chance to enjoy these treasures.

The books that I'm featuring this week are the two that weren't selected in the past giveaways. I'm not sure if this is how I'm going to be doing these in the future. I may wait a bit before featuring them again.

Good luck and be sure to stop back next week!

This book came out in 2018 and kind of creeped me out. What a nasty little girl! Even with the creepiness, it was still a 5 ⭐ read for me.

Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage
ARC ~ Pub date 7/17/18

Meet Hanna.

She’s the sweet-but-silent angel in the adoring eyes of her Daddy. He’s the only person who understands her, and all Hanna wants is to live happily ever after with him. But Mommy stands in her way, and she’ll try any trick she can think of to get rid of her. Ideally for good.

Meet Suzette.

She loves her daughter, really, but after years of expulsions and strained home schooling, her precarious health and sanity are weakening day by day. As Hanna’s tricks become increasingly sophisticated, and Suzette's husband remains blind to the failing family dynamics, Suzette starts to fear that there’s something seriously wrong, and that maybe home isn’t the best place for their baby girl after all.

I read this one when it came out in 2017. Such a great book! I gave it 5 ⭐s.

He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly
ARC ~ Pub date 6/6/17

In the summer of 1999, Kit and Laura travel to a festival in Cornwall to see a total eclipse of the sun. Kit is an eclipse chaser; Laura has never seen one before. Young and in love, they are certain this will be the first of many they’ll share.

But in the hushed moments after the shadow passes, Laura interrupts a man and a woman. She knows that she saw something terrible. The man denies it. It is her word against his.

The victim seems grateful. Months later, she turns up on their doorstep like a lonely stray. But as her gratitude takes a twisted turn, Laura begins to wonder—did she trust the wrong person?

15 years later, Kit and Laura are living under assumed names and completely off the digital grid: no Facebook, only rudimentary cell phones, not in any directories. But as the truth catches up to them, they realize they can no longer keep the past in the past.

This or That #Giveaway! He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly & Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center

So.... if you've been stopping by for the last few years to check out my Book Spotlight Giveaways and things look a little different to you, never fear, you are in the right place. I was getting a little bored after so many years of doing these posts so I'm changing it up a bit.

First of all, instead of featuring one book each week, I'm going to feature two, with the winner being able to choose whichever one he/she wants me to send them. It's all about choices, right? Which ever book is not selected will be featured again next week, along with a new title.

I'm still going to be using Rafflecopter, for the time being, but I may change that in the future, after I check out what other options are out there.

Check out the two ARC books that I'm featuring this week and have fun. Let me know what you think and share any suggestions or thoughts you might have.

The second book this week is by a very popular author, Katherine Center. I read this one when it came out in 2019. Another 5 ⭐read for me!

Things You Save in a Fire
ARC ~ Pub date 8/13/19

Cassie Hanwell was born for emergencies. As one of the only female firefighters in her Texas firehouse, she's seen her fair share of them, and she's a total pro at other people's tragedies. But when her estranged and ailing mother asks her to give up her whole life and move to Boston, Cassie suddenly has an emergency of her own.

The tough, old-school Boston firehouse is as different from Cassie's old job as it could possibly be. Hazing, a lack of funding, and poor facilities mean that the firemen aren't exactly thrilled to have a "lady" on the crew—even one as competent and smart as Cassie. Except for the infatuation-inspiring rookie, who doesn't seem to mind having Cassie around. But she can't think about that. Because love is girly, and it’s not her thing. And don’t forget the advice her old captain gave her: Never date firefighters. Cassie can feel her resolve slipping...and it means risking it all—the only job she’s ever loved, and the hero she’s worked like hell to become.

Katherine Center's Things You Save in a Fire is a heartfelt and healing tour-de-force about the strength of vulnerability, the nourishing magic of forgiveness, and the life-changing power of defining courage, at last, for yourself.

Release Day: He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly ~ My Thoughts #HeSaidSheSaid #WhoDoYouBelieve

Happy Release Day!

He Said/She Said

He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly
Print and e-book, 400 pages
Published: June 6th 2017 by Minotaur Books

In the hushed aftermath of a total eclipse, Laura witnesses a brutal attack. She and her boyfriend Kit call the police, and in that moment, it is not only the victim's life that is changed forever. Fifteen years on, Laura and Kit live in fear, and while Laura knows she was right to speak out, the events that follow have taught her that you can never see the whole picture: something, and someone, is always in the dark.

My thoughts about He Said/She Said ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"We stand side by side in front of the speckled mirror. Our reflections avoid eye contact. Like me, she is  wearing black and like mine, her clothes have clearly been chosen with care and respect."

Wow! Just wow. He Said/She Said is a novel that is so full of twists and turns that my head was spinning. And like the title implies, you get to the point where you really don't know who to believe.

The story starts with a scene outside of a courtroom, so we know from the start that something is going to happen that will involve the law, lawyers, and the court system. Then the reader gets to take a step back and relax a little bit as the story starts to unfold.

He Said/She Said is full of secrets and people who have kept terrible secrets from their friends and loved ones. Once you start finding out the scope of these secrets, your mind will be blown.

Erin Kelly is a new-to-me author but I loved this book so much I am definitely going to be checking out her other books.

I received an ARC of He Said/She Said from Minotaur Books in exchange for my honest opinion.
