Congrats Sonja
on the release today of
Stories We Never Told!

Stories We Never Told by Sonja Yoerg
Paperback and e-book, 328 pages
Published May 1st 2020 by Lake Union Publishing

Psychology professor Jackie Strelitz thought she was over her ex-lover and colleague, Harlan Crispin. Why should she care if Harlan springs a new “friend” on her? After all, Jackie has everything she ever wanted: a loving husband and a thriving career. Still, she can’t help but be curious about Harlan’s latest.

Nasira Amari is graceful, smart, and young. Worse, she’s the new member of Jackie’s research team. For five years, Harlan enforced rules limiting his relationship with Jackie. With Nasira he’s breaking every single one. Why her?

Fixated by the couple, Jackie’s curiosity becomes obsession. But she soon learns that nothing is quite what it seems, and that to her surprise—and peril—she may not be the only one who can’t let go.

My thoughts about Stories We Never Told ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"Just dinner. The innocence of the phrase is deceptive, as deceptive as the dinner itself would turn out to be, as Jackie would discover ninety-eight days later."

Wow! This story took me down a path I was not expecting to go down. These people really have some issues with each other. Stories We Never Told is full of very interesting characters and relationships. We get to watch as these relationships start to fall apart and unravel. Seriously, do any of them have any redeeming qualities?

What I really like about Sonja's books is that each story is so different from her previous ones. I never know what I'm going to find between the covers of her books. Each story is a new adventure and I never know where she's going to take me. And I love that!

I've loved each of Sonja's stories, right from her very first book. I love that I can be immersed in her fictional world for a bit and find characters that I am going to love, or love-to-hate, as the case may be.

I loved Stories We Never Told. It was definitely a page-turner, full of memorable, somewhat disturbed characters who kept me enthralled. Honestly, this was the book that finally pulled me out of my pandemic reading slump. I highly recommend it!

I received an ARC of Stories We Never Told via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

About the author

Sonja Yoerg

I grew up in Stowe, Vermont, the daughter of a ski instructor. In my first incarnation, I was a animal behaviorist who studied learning in blue jays, hyenas and kangaroo rats. I wrote a book about that. Now I make stuff up.

I've published four novels; the most recent is True Places, a Washington Post and Amazon Charts bestseller. Yeah, typing that makes me smile because reaching readers is the point, right? My next novel, Stories We Never Told, releases May 1, 2020.

When I'm not writing or pretending to be writing, I run, garden, cook, eat, drink wine, then run some more. My husband and I live in central Virginia with a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's quiet and pretty, like Vermont. ~ Goodreads

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? April 6, 2020

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's an opportunity to visit other blogs and to comment on their reads. And ... you can add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Week 4—I'm seem to be adjusting better to our new life and feel like maybe I'm starting to get my reading mojo back. Our new 'normal', right? Our governor is slated to have a big news conference sometime today. She's held them everyday but this one is getting special attention so I'm curious to see what it's going to be about. South Dakota is one of only five states right now that doesn't have a stay-a-home directive—although hubs and I have been doing that already, not everyone has—so I'm wondering if that's what will be announced today. We'll see.

Take care. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
And remember to wash those hands!!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you all have a good week. Happy reading!

Well, we are starting week 3 of our new 'normal'. I'm getting assigned more 'work from home projects', which is a good thing, it gives me more structure. I am finding that it is still hard to focus on reading so I only got one book read this week. Hopefully this will improve as our new way of life settles down. So, how are you doing?

Stay safe and healthy everyone.

Well, here we are in our new 'normal' - staying home as much as possible, working from home when I can, not going out, and missing being together with my family so, so much! Thank goodness we can FaceTime! I try to get out to take a walk every day, weather permitting (we're still getting snow!) and it seems so eerie with hardly anyone out on the streets. The governor said yesterday that our state (South Dakota) is trending to peak in cases by May into June. UGH! Unbelievable.

My thought when this all started about 2 weeks ago was 'Great, a little time off from work - think of all the books I can get read.' Well, that's not happening. I'm finding it hard to get into a book and am easily distracted by the news and checking for updates on the situation. Is this happening to you? Any tips for me to get past this? I really want to enjoy all the books on my TBR stack.

Stay safe and healthy everyone.
