  Happy Release Day!!

Congrats Ashley
on the release today of
Sail Away!

Sail Away by Ashley Farley
Series: Palmetto Island #4
Southern Fiction, 114 pages
August 3, 2021 by Leisure Time Books

Three women form a village to help a friend in need.

Becca has embarked on the most important mission of her life. She trusts no one, and she’s running out of time. On a whim, she rents a beach cottage on Palmetto Island for the summer. She’s searching for a solution to her problem. Help comes in an unexpected friendship with the young woman next door.

Hannah has three months to plan her dream wedding. While she’s eager to marry the man of her dreams, she finds the logistics of combining households and the details of organizing her event overwhelming. When she learns of a new friend’s crisis, she drops everything to come to her aid.

Sidney forges ahead with her successful career as a chef, while her heart remains in the past. On impulse, she reaches out to her old boyfriend on social media, and they rekindle their relationship. Chemistry between them still exists. But is it enough? Can she live with her secret? Or will she risk her happiness by revealing the truth?

Amelia is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. She seeks therapy in order to put the past behind her. Do all her problems stem from her abusive marriage? Or is something missing from her life? Will she give up the possibility of a future with the love of her life to fulfill another dream?

The paths of these four women collide in a dramatic conclusion. Farley once again reminds us that family is more than blood ties.

My thoughts about Sail Away ~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"Ethan leads Hannah by the hand, out of the restaurant and down the sidewalk to the horse-drawn carriage waiting on the curb."

Oh my gosh! I love this series so much. And Ashley has once again pulled together a great cast of characters to create another amazing story on Palmetto Island.

Four very different women come together, each with their own baggage and issues, and are there for each other, to support one another and be the best kinds of friends that they can be.

Sail Away will tug on your heartstrings and make you want to see the good in all people. There is definitely some drama and conflict among the four women but watching them work through the issues was totally worth it. Such a heartwarming story!

I adore this Palmetto Island series.  You are going to want to start with the first one and binge-read your way through the whole series—beautiful story-lines, interesting characters, plenty of drama, love, and support, as well as an amazing setting. What more could you ask for?

I highly recommend Sail Away, as well as this whole series!

I received an ARC of Sail Away from the author and this is my honest opinion.

My thoughts about Lowcountry on My Mind ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"Amelia circles the block three times before entering the parking garage and locating a vacant space on the top deck."

I love Ashley's stories and particularly adore this Palmetto Island series of hers. And each book is better than the one before. Such exciting stories!

Lowcountry on My Mind brings together three best friends who have lost touch with one another. Amelia just disappears out of her friends lives years ago but comes back home to get away from her husband, at least for a little while. As the friends reconnect, life gets crazy and a little bit out of control.

This one definitely has a more intense storyline that kept me going, flipping those pages to make sure everyone was going to be okay. All sorts of bad stuff happens to this group of friends. But there is plenty of good, as well.

I loved this story and am super excited to read book #4 which comes out in August. Ashley has created a wonderful world on Palmetto Island and I love visiting there. I highly recommend Lowcountry on My Mind and this whole series!

Change of Tides by Ashley Farley
Series: Palmetto Island #1
February 9th 2021 by Leisure Time Books

Second Chances and New Romances

Birdie Fuller doesn’t like change. And a lot of change is happening at once. Her daughter and three-year-old grandson are moving out of her apartment to a nearby city. Will Birdie be able to survive the loneliness without Hannah and Gus? She joins a dating website to find companionship and meets the seemingly perfect man. But is their relationship too good to be real? When the past comes back to haunt Birdie, she struggles to maintain the sobriety she’s worked so hard to achieve?

While the beauty and wildlife of Palmetto Island provide inspiration for Hannah’s creativity, she realizes that in order to grow her web design business, she must move to a bigger city. But is she ready to leave the security of her mother’s apartment? For three years, she’s been hiding out on the island, avoiding contact with her son’s biological father. She never told Ryan about the pregnancy. He doesn’t know about Gus. When Ryan shows up at Birdie’s café out of the blue, Hannah’s world comes crashing down around her. Will she give Ryan another chance? Or will another man steal her heart?

My thoughts about Change of Tides ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"Hannah navigates her kayak into the inky shadows alongside an abandoned dock."

I was totally hooked on this series after reading the prequel, Muddy Bottom, and was excited for more. I immediately fell in love with these characters. And who doesn't just love this setting, Palmetto Island?

Change of Tides gives the reader a deeper look at the lives of Birdie and her daughter, Hannah, the characters from Muddy Bottom who I already love. I was there celebrating their joys and anguishing over the turmoil of their everyday lives. This book was such a wonderful way to escape for me, just for a little bit.

I always love Ashley's books and characters so, so much. I always feel like I become part of their circle of friends. I'm extremely excited for this series—the next installment is coming out in May. I love spending time in this world and I can't wait to go back and reconnect with them all.

I received an ARC of Change of Tides from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Muddy Bottom

Muddy Bottom by Ashley Farley
(Palmetto Island #0.5)
127 pages
Published October 28th 2020 by Leisure Time Books

Birdie Fuller’s new year is off to a bad start. Her husband has mysteriously disappeared, leaving Birdie to cope with their unmarried daughter’s unplanned pregnancy. Birdie and Hannah disagree about the baby. Birdie urges her daughter to consider abortion, but Hannah is determined to see the pregnancy to term. When Hannah returns for her last semester in college, Birdie must face her demons, the problems in her marriage that drove her husband to clean out their bank accounts and run off with another woman.

While struggling to hide her pregnancy from her roommates and ex-boyfriend, Hannah interviews for jobs that will take her and her baby far away from her mother. After graduation, with months to kill before the start of her new job, she returns to Palmetto Island for the summer to await the birth of her baby. Tension mounts between Hannah and Birdie when they move from their waterfront home to a two-bedroom apartment above a bakery. Can mother and daughter mend their relationship? Or will they be lost to each other forever?

My thoughts about Muddy Bottom ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"From her kitchen window, Birdie watches the sun rise over the inlet. Pink sky atop golden marsh and murky water. A new day. A new year. A new start."

Once again. Ashley has penned a wonderful southern story, full of likeable characters, who are wrapped up in their complicated lives. Muddy Bottom gives us an exquisite taste of what is to come in Ashley's new Palmetto Island trilogy. I can't wait to read the rest of the series and to find out more about the interesting people on the island.

As with Ashley's other series, I know I am going to fall in love with the place and the people. I can't wait to go back!
