Congrats D. J.
on the release today of
Saving Meghan!

Saving Meghan by D. J. Palmer
Print and e-book, 384 pages
Published April 9th 2019 by Macmillan

A riveting new thriller about a mother accused of deliberately making her daughter sick—a phenomenon known as Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy—and the secrets and lies that are revealed.

The Gerard family has lived a charmed life. Carl is a highly successful residential developer with millions in the bank who married his high school sweetheart, Becky, and they have a beautiful daughter, Meghan. But when Meghan is suddenly struck with a mysterious illness that starts out as chronic headaches and joint pain but progresses rapidly to affect her cognitive ability, the family begins to fracture as they search desperately for a diagnosis and and a cure for Meghan’s suffering.

Dr. Zachary Fisher, a pediatrician and the foremost expect on a rare mitochondrial disease, might just be the answer to their prayers. After the death of his own son, Dr. Fisher dedicated his life to finding a way to cure the disease with a passion that borders on obsession, and he is convinced that Meghan is suffering from the same illness. However, family secrets and clashing medical opinions begin to raise questions about the puzzling nature of Meghan’s illness. As the Gerards grow more and more suspicious of each other and their medical team, they must also race against the clock to decide whether to give Meghan a dangerous test that could prove once and for all what — or who — is responsible for her condition.

My thoughts about Saving Meghan ~~

(I love to note the first lines of the books I'm reading. First lines can really grab a reader's attention and I love seeing where the author takes the reader after their first lines.)

First line—"Panic gripped her as the airplane’s hatch door closed."

Saving Meghan will have you, as the reader, questioning each character's motive and wondering who you can believe. And then, when you least expect it, you'll get hit from left field.

I knew when I started this book that there were going to be twists and unexpected turns so as I was reading it, I kept looking for the holes in peoples' stories, doubting everyone's actions. Reading like that, expecting the worst in everyone, had me on the edge of my seat through the whole book. What a tense, but exciting journey!

I loved this page-turning, extraordinary story and can't wait to see what else D. J. has in store for his readers.

I received an ARC of Saving Meghan from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? April 8, 2019

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's an opportunity to visit other blogs and to comment on their reads. And ... you can add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Spring is here!!⛅ And then winter is rearing it ugly head again later this week. ⛄ Ugh. We will enjoy almost 70 degree temps today and then we're under a winter storm watch Wednesday into Thursday. Ugh, ugh. At least the snow won't stick around too long, right? 🙏

Right now, I'm listening to To Kill a Mockingbird. I'm enjoying getting in some classic reads and listening to them is the way to go. I take my time and savor all that makes them classics. I was thinking about reading/listening to Great Expectations next. I remember that I loved that story when we read it in school but I don't remember why. It will be fun revisiting again. Give me some suggestions. What other classics would you recommend?

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you all have a good week. Happy reading!
